Did ATS break the Serpo story ?

The only things I didn't like about the Serpo story were that the EBENs were not indigenous to Serpo but had migrated there after some intergalactic war which I found a bit too clichéd. Also the team didn't take a microbiologist along with them and had to continually boil the water on Serpo to kill unknown microbes. The EBENs only used refrigeration for industrial purposes. Also the humans were never allowed to go near EBEN minors. I'd have insisted upon meeting them.
