That was top-class.
Also, the "All roads lead to Rome" thread was another stoater worth of a mention.
"All Roads Lead to Rome"... is among the most exemplary ATS threads that deserves a special revival.
(Once it is properly restored.)
It could have been the framework for a great book, or even a fantastic documentary production...
It is part of the true "content history" for the legacy of the community which thrived at ATS...
But we are here now... and we will pick up the pieces...

It was breathtaking Max.
I think it could have made a series of books.
Hopefully, those pieces come together once again with an archive of the best of them.

Wouldn't be an honor to dedicate the effort to the author?...
Who managed to offer us proof that anyone in the community could, together with us all...
craft, and nurture a thread that captivates, and educates... consistently.

I thought it turned out that the SERPO story was an 'Aviary' disinformation/ Counter Intelligence program from the likes of the infamous Richard “Dick” Doty, Chris Green and Hal Putoff?
These guys were supposedly part of a group behind many of the famous "leaks" of Alien contact, Super Soldiers, alien abduction, Dulce, MJ12 and cattle mutilations. It was their job to muddy the waters of Ufology and I don't think anyone really got to the bottom of exactly what their mission was other than cover for black ops??

Quote:Doty says his job, ostensiblya Special Agent with theUS Air Force Office of Special Investigations, was to liaise with Bennewitz. Why? For two reasons: to find out if Bennewitz's explorations might have compromised any actual classified Air Force activity, and to feed Bennewitz stories confirming his alien beliefs, and thus distract him away from any actual classified activity. Like a magician who secretly does one thing with his left hand while distracting you by wildly waving his right hand, Doty says the US Air Force wanted to work undisturbed on its actual classified projects, and so engaged in a prolonged disinformation campaign about UFOs and aliens to distract and deflect its closest critics, the UFOlogists.

Yeah this is what I heard as well. It seems like all the UFO leaks were deliberate fabrication. Although the Dulce base seems to have more than one source. Supposed whistleblower Phil Schneider whose suicide was certainly suspicious, independently corroborated Dulce and there was an interview with the alleged Dulce base security guard Thomas Castello (apparently he showed up again on an obscure UFO forum whose name I've long forgotten, about 15 years ago).
Also Dulce was mentioned in the hack books of Branton and Commander X. Gabe Valdez who investigated the notorious cattle mutilations also alluded to the Dulce base in an interview but was hesitant to go into detail about something he might have seen.

He was mentioned in the superb book Mirage Men by Mark Pilkington. I had no idea he was a member of ATS . His name wasn't Three Bears was it?

Not aware of 'Three Bears', but he did do some "Ask Me Anything" and was cited as a friend of ATS by at least one of the Amigos. Wish we had the archives...there was always a slightly hinky side to ATS. I was a devotee for many years but always cautious as I figured it was a petri dish. I was not the only one.
Could be the same here, eh?

Isn't everything virtual a petri dish?
I agree with you though...
mysteries to explore...
the archive has many such things...
... I can hardly wait...

Close Encounters. Truth spun into lies. There is a depth in this story. Something real maybe. Something so profound it needed to be dragged into the light and proven false.
