I agree, it seems they have carte blanche to use excessive force on unarmed civilians at will and that is illegal, or was illegal, or ... wait, is this just another way the Trump administration is trying to turn illegal acts into the new normal acceptable behaviour?

We do need more footage of the incident, but here is an AI summery of the laws on excessive force in Illinois.
Quote:In Illinois, excessive force is legally considered any force that is greater than reasonably necessary to achieve a legitimate law enforcement purpose, based on the "totality of the circumstances". This includes using force against a subdued suspect, continuing to use force after resistance ceases, or using force as punishment or retaliation. Examples can include beating a handcuffed person or shooting an unarmed, fleeing suspect who poses no immediate danger. Factors that determine excessive force - Totality of the circumstances: An officer's actions are judged based on all the facts and circumstances that were reasonably apparent to the officer at the time.
- Objectively reasonable: The force used must be objectively reasonable in light of the facts confronting the officer.
- Proportionality: The level of force must be proportional to the threat, not excessive for the situation.

The individual's car is not some safe space where laws don't exist, you don't get extra rights to not be dragged from your car because it's your car that is an absurd argument are you sure you were a litigator?
That's not my argument.
Broken ribs are not a minor injury.
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope. Nothing...

Okay, true they have sharp edges that can cause more damage. This person could have per-existing medical condition or it could have been excessive force but without more information we can't really say either way, but since everyone was ready to scream excessive force without any evidence, I'll take the side of the agent, that he used the proper amount of force for the situation and that the agent is innocent of any wrong doing, unless you can prove he is not.

Just FYI.
Broken ribs are absolute agony, sheer torture, breathing hurts, as to sneezing or laughing, that's just worse times infinity.
Going to the toilet, standing up, sitting down, movement is pretty much agony incarnate for a few weeks.
Apparently, a broken collarbone is even more torture, never done that before.
But one of the most painful experiences in my life was breaking a couple of ribs.

I hadn't mentioned Hitler!! I was referring to the tactics used by the Police thugs. You can pick from any of the authoritarian forces that steal away people for misdemeanours.

I think kurokage is coming from a good place in their heart, just confused about what no one is above the law actually looks like. I wish people would get it in their heads that they shouldn't be within 50 feet of these situations their emotions become too much for them to control and 100% of the time they will cross the obstruction line.
I've actually been 'swatted' by 2 officers in tactical gear. I spoke politely but wouldn't allow them into my home, they remained on the door step. I wasn't wrestled to the ground nor arrested, and they went on their merry way.
But from what can be seen in the video, they never even attempted to de-escalate the situation, only escalate. A whole road full of un-marked cars blocking peoples access, is a legitimate reason to honk the horn.

"Brown shirts" was a reference to police brutality not Nazism

Not to be confused with "Browncoats", which is Firefly.
