US citizen, 67, ‘has ribs broken’ by Border Patrol agents

This person could have per-existing medical condition or it could have been excessive force but without more information we can't really say either way, but since everyone was ready to scream excessive force without any evidence, I'll take the side of the agent, that he used the proper amount of force for the situation and that the agent is innocent of any wrong doing, unless you can prove he is not.

Broken ribs are absolute agony, sheer torture, breathing hurts, as to sneezing or laughing, that's just worse times infinity.

Going to the toilet, standing up, sitting down, movement is pretty much agony incarnate for a few weeks.

Apparently, a broken collarbone is even more torture, never done that before.

But one of the most painful experiences in my life was breaking a couple of ribs.

I'll second that.  I broke three and dreaded coughing.  Sneezing ...ouch!

"Brown shirts" is a reference to the Nazi brown shirts and their brutality.
That's where it comes from.
But since you didn't know that, I'll give you a pass.

I've broken most of my bones at one time or another and I'd say it's a toss up of which is worse, ribs or collarbone.

Most painful break for me were my heels. I've broken both at different times, one a wishbone fracture (3 pieces) and the other a shelf fracture (longitudinal). The wishbone edged out the shelf fractionally.

Ouch! That sounds really painful!

Really, You'll give me a pass???

I know my European history thanks   Thumbup

As i mentioned, Brown shirts was in reference to people in an official position using brutality. I didn't reference Hitler or the Nazis, just the tactics used.  so no Reductio ad Hitlerum needed.

Yeah, I can agree with that.

But from what can be seen in the video, they never even attempted to de-escalate the situation, only escalate. A whole road full of un-marked cars blocking peoples access, is a legitimate reason to honk the horn.

So you agree, be polite and they will be polite. I disagree that the individual whom received the broken ribs was being polite thus he got dragged from the car which resulted in broken ribs.

So being impolite is justification for this sort of brutality in your World?  Yikes....

We don't have all the info so I'm going with what you wrote for the moment.

I'd post the South Park "You will respect my authority" Cartman thing but I'm rubbish at embedding on my phone.

Anyone help?

But your not in the position of authority to change the meaning of the term brown shirts as it already has one .

AI Overview
"Brownshirts" refers to the members of the Nazi Party's paramilitary wing, the Sturmabteilung, known for their brown uniforms. The group was instrumental in Hitler's rise to power through violent intimidation of political opponents and later served as a symbol of Nazi aggression, although the group's power was effectively eliminated in 1934.
