I believe in US ex-military combat veterans' take on what is going on and I'll believe their assessments rather than any speculation from people that are led by the nose through hate and warmongering programming.

Iran is doing so much “winning” that they are now recruiting 12 year olds and Iraqi terrorists to patrol their streets.
Their balls are completely cut off.

I don't think there is an outcome where Iran "wins". Their country was already in rough shape because of their government, and we have given them a pounding.

But I'm old enough to remember that we said mission accomplished too early in Iraq. That became a years long war. 

There are absolutely scenarios where we could lose a lot of resources while getting very little in return. Trump has said many times that we've already won. Then what are we still doing there? The longer we stay, the more chance an escalation happens we can't walk back from and it's a true full blown war. The longer the strait stays closed, the more chance more nations get involved.
