A declassified Cold War-era CIA file is gaining attention for reporting a disturbing occurrence: aliens turning soldiers into stone.

The document—which was allegedly a 250-page KBG report—detailed an unreal interaction between Soviet soldiers and a UFO. According to the report, the Soviet soldiers were conducting a training exercise in Ukraine when they came into contact with a “low-flying spaceship in the shape of a saucer.” Upon noticing the UFO, one of the soldiers fired a missile at it, causing it to crash on the ground...

...It fell to Earth not far away, and five short humanoids with ‘large heads and large black eyes’ emerged from it,” the report claimed, quoting eyewitness accounts.

Following the crash, the supposed aliens “merged into a single object that acquired a spherical shape,” according to the only two surviving soldiers.

“In a few seconds, the spheres grew much bigger and exploded by flaring up with an extremely bright light,” the report stated. “At that very instant, 23 soldiers who had watched the phenomenon turned into … stone poles.”

It goes on to say the shape-shifting super go-tron aliens turned them into limestone.

I really don't know what to make of this. Did some KGB agent do some CIA LSD? If not, the aliens have harnessed the power of the pyroclastic flow, which is the only thing I can think of that can transform organic matter to stone instantly. And that takes contact with the flow itself.

The fun part of this one is giving the benefit of doubt and trying to come up with a way for electromagnetism to instantly change molecular structure to stone. How can you make light cause instant petrification?

Gamma rays can alter DNA through ionization... and perhaps the two surviving were shielded by granite? There's scientific plausibilty (for the two survivors) if its caused by extreme radiation.

The process in which limestone is created takes several thousands of years even in its most rapid, rare, and contrived way to form (Unless you're the Institute for Creation Research and you selectively understand what science says) and I can't see light radiation adding the requisite ingredient to have localized rapid hominid lithification. .. but maybe?

Any guess is as good as mine. If you care to indulge what seems like either CIA or KGB BS.

There was controversy around this story that it is propaganda. Otherwise, if true it is vindictive by the aliens and a message, they could have just zapped them into dust.

Hard not too look at this as fear mongering.
