UFO Pendulum Motion.

Hadn't considered that mate and your post did put me in mind of the 'postbiological' hypothesis where these objects are the result of some kind of advanced machine intelligence - you also mentioned 'underground' and I would wager a lot is going on down there with regards to this subject.

Definitely is a bit spooky and reckon the average Joe would be a bit shocked to see just how many UFO occupant reports are out there - just been watching this vid about airports and came across a load more lol.

Farms also seem to get attention from these objects and there's a pretty remarkable UFO occupant/pendulum motion case below from Medellin, Spain on June 14th, 1974:

Quote:Santiago Pulido Romero, 46, was going to his father's farm when he saw an object flying at low level. It was "round on the bottom and with a sort of cone-shaped tower on top." When he switched his car lights on, the object came towards him at very high speed, only to move away from he turned out the lights. Inside the craft, Santiago could see three tall men, "who seemed to be holding on to some sort of control levers" and wearing helmets.

" 'How did the apparatus move?' I asked him.

" 'At very high speed and spinning in the same spot, although at times, it zigzagged or remained still, or swayed like a pendulum of a clock. For a moment it would look like a star, and then, in the next moment, it was right there beside me. At times it seemed to me to move like a whirlwind, you know what I mean? — like an incredible maelstrom...Well, it's just that I haven't the ability to explain it; words fail me!'

"What shape was it?'

" 'Round on the bottom and with a sort of cone-shaped tower on top. The round part was transparent and a great yellow light came from inside it. The tower shone and looked like a metal structure.'

That doesn't sound like fun to me. I wonder if there isn't some misdirection.

Here is a pilot pulling 9g with insane reaction times, most people would just puke and pass out.

Biologically speaking we need gravity on a plane from what I understand, as in it needs to be large field that appear flat.  Those rotating space stations in stories that creates gravity won't work.  You get sick and stuff from the motion.  Not sure if this is interesting topic for people.

A localized gravity fields that is flat sounds out there, but some form of time dilation messing with gravity would explain the super human reflexes needed to pilot the craft. Or it could just not be biological.

I wonder how attached we are to "piloting" craft vs being occupants in a autonyms craft.

Engineer and student witness 'coffee-cup saucer' shaped object descending in a pendulum motion whilst working on an irrigation project for the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture in Tepic, 1969 - Source: APRO bulletin.

Quote:Field Investigator Oscar H. Egly of Guadalajara, Mexico, has forwarded a report on his investigation into a UFO sighting at an irrigation project site near Tepic, capital of Nayarit province, on the West coast of Mexico. The observation took place on July 24 and the witnesses were Fernando Flores Garcia, 31, and Jesus de la Rosa Pacheco. 20. a student.

Flores, who is in charge of a small irrigation project by the Palillo River (employed by the Department of Hydraulic Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture), was talking to the engineer in charge of all small irrigation projects in Nayarit Province, Jesus de Rosa (Sr.), father of the second witness. After the conversation, Flores and de la Rosa (Jr.) had walked about 1,100 feet toward a pick-up truck when de la Rosa pointed out an object descending into the mountainous bushy area behind where Jesus de la Rosa (Sr.) and two colleagues were conversing. At first, Jesus de la Rosa thought it was an aircraft but before long both witnesses were able to observe a bright object shaped literally like a "coffee-cup saucer" for 20 or 25 seconds. Flores described the object to Field Investigator Egly as a "metallic, round object."

Young Jesus de la Rosa believed that the object was moying slowly, at about 10-12 miles per hour. His narration goes: "I yelled at my friend and said 'Look, there is an airplane coming down,' then I saw it stop over some trees near where my father was standing with two other engineers. It banked slightly and I saw that it wasn't a plane but a round disk. It made no sound. It was white, like an aluminum color; it moved up, away from the trees and we saw it like a 'silver peso' facing us. 'then it again moved higher, leveled off and then descended with a pendulum motion until it was behind the brush. near the mountain edge and seemed to have landed there as we lost sight of it. We ran to where my father was and asked them if they had seen the round object almost above them near the trees."

However, they had not noticed anything except a noise like a "smooth truck engine approaching." Engineer de la Rosa had commented on this sound to his colleagues (as no trucks could approach the irrigation project that close) seconds before the two witnesses "with startled looks on their faces" came running up- The whole party then proceeded towards where the object seemed to have descended, but the brush was too thick and muddy..

Certainly a pretty fascinating topic to me mate and do appreciate the input - there's also a ridiculous amount of 'right angle turn' reports out there and that doesn't sound like fun for the occupant either.

Quote:What would it take for a plane to make a right angle turn at 600+ miles per hour? It would be the same as if that plane hit a solid steel wall. What plane on the drawing boards of any government can do that? Did any government plane or missile have this maneuverability in the early 50s, when the reports first appeared? Do they have it now? Is it true the UFO phenomenon displays technology beyond our present ability? If they are able to make right angle turns at the speeds reported, they do.

At some of these speeds UFOs may even defy our laws of physics. If they are “our” craft and piloted by humans, we may have a moral problem. If our government has had a way for a pilot to survive such g forces, why haven’t they released it? How many of our pilots have died because they haven’t had access to this technology? If we believe the premise that UFOs are from here (America) we still end up with a decades old conspiracy and a disgrace to our military leaders which would involve our government and quite possible the private sector.

If we add thousands of other anomalies reported such as:

• Hovering with no sound
• Acrobatic movements
• Extreme acceleration
• Interference with electrical equipment..

Police UFO report database man Gary Heseltine also raises some good points here:

Quote:• "There are some definite flight type characteristics that are seen now that I would say represent genuine UFOs...ie: instant acceleration; instant stop; vertical acceleration -up into the air and down to the ground; reverses in direction; right angle turns - all in silence - multiple objects sometimes separating and then going back into each other.
They are classic, what I would call, genuine UFO characteristics - things that we can not do in a conventional sense".

Yes indeed, suppose everything sounds 'out there' when discussing this subject - perhaps that's why career academics choose to willfully ignore it lol.

Great point you raised and have looked into more and more exotic explanations over the years (rather than everyday ET nuts and bolts) - brought it up in another thread but thought Tim Swartz's article here also made some really intriguing observations about internal time frames and objects creating alterations in local states.

Regarding the seemingly impossible flight characteristics have also come across speculation that these objects represent the equivalent behaviour interacting with our reality the same way a three dimensional object would interacting with 'Flatland'.

Don't know what to think really but it's fun to speculate and there are certainly lots of freaky global patterns in the literature - there's a case below where a 'UFO sceptic' pilot witnessed a UFO over Alabama in 1956 and the object almost seems to be having fun.

The UFO's maneuvers were said to last for 30 seconds and described as 'rising and falling, darting back and forth, instant 90° turns, then hovering motionless again' - when the control tower radioed the aircraft the object began another series of 'crazy gyrations, lazy 8's, square chandelles with undulating motion' and then shot out over the Gulf of Mexico in a steep climb at 'fantastic speed'.

Incident account regarding a French Foreign Legion unit operating in Madagascar - printed in the1976 issue of 'Lumieres Dans la Nuit':

Quote:Lumieres Dans la Nuit had another intriguing case that had transpired on Madagascar, although not involving the oddly suited characters. The December 1976 issue included a story told by a member of the French Foreign Legion whose unit was engaged in a reconnaissance operation in the island’s wilderness. On a sunny, cloudless day, the witness plus twenty-three other Legionnaires beheld a glowing object, described as having “the color of a new coin shining in the sunlight” descending from the sky in a falling leaf motion – a classic behavior of exhibited by unidentified flying objects in the early years. It made a rapid descent, hitting the ground suddenly and sending out a shockwave. The soldiers were paralyzed, much like Droguet in 1955 and the nameless farmer in the late 1960s. “All of us saw the machine land and depart, but none of us perceived the passage of time.”

The Legionnaire sharing his story with the French UFO publication went on to add: “We were freed from the paralysis upon the objects departure, and we had been in the same place throughout the event. When we checked the time, however, we realized that nearly three hours had elapsed without becoming aware of it.” This missing time, so common to the abductee era of the 1990s, had serious consequences for the military detachment, which had failed to radio back to its base despite repeated requests. The Legionnaire stressed that the object was smooth, bore no markings, and was oval in shape

Don't know who is 'running' MUFON these days but seems a lot of genuinely interesting content is being actively deleted from their website - including this report from Maine.

Quote:The witness described how the object moved.

“The way the object moved down closer was very odd and I was euphoric, but terrified at the same time. It was flat with the horizon when the object dipped up one side at 20 to 30 degrees and swooped in closer. The best way to describe it is the way a feather or a leaf falls to the ground and swoops side-to-side. After it swooped down close to the car everyone started to have this moment of awe, yet panicky.”

Still trust NUFORC though and here's one from Florida reported to Peter Davenport.

Quote:The craft appeared as a helicopter experiencing tail rotor failure of some sort, as it was descending in a seemingly uncontrolled fashion, pitching side to side and coming down like a falling leaf. It dropped from about 500 ft to about 150 to 100 ft above ground in this fashion when it suddenly stopped, right above a tall highway light, to shine a bright beam of yellowish white light onto an empty, older model sedan, that was parked on the southbound emergency lane of I 75. I was still 50/50 on if it's coming down in a spiral or falling like a leaf, but sounds pretty conclusive now that it's falling like a leaf and I got nothing for that other than what I already said. Pretty weird, a maneuver that seems to be routed in physics but on a craft that defies it otherwise  Puzzled

Couldn't help looking into the experience again that the French legion reported. Had good old chatgpt draw up table.   Something that came up that isn't explicitly listed here is seizures that produces similar effects and can be induced by messing with electrolytes that are all suspectable to EMF interference. Electrolytes are ions, each responds differently to EMF and has different functions. Perhaps some are targetable.

Great work and that 1963 Columbian case fits right in with paralysis (and high frequency sound).

Quote:As one came near them, they saw it was disc-shaped with a dome; it descended in a falling leaf-like motion to few meters above the ground. “Suddenly there was like a tremendous high frequency sound which almost blew my ears,” said Castillo, “but I was unable to move… I noticed that I was paralyzed.”

Also some weird timing on this 1954 French case as the witness experienced an electric shock (and car stall) the moment the object touched the ground.

Quote:One of UFOs dropped abruptly to the ground with a falling leaf motion, landing only 100 meters away. The witness felt an electric shock as the engine and headlights of his car died, and his car stopped the moment the object touched the ground.

Don't know if you've seen it already but regarding flight characteristics (and right angle turns) there's a nice study by U.S. Major Dewey Fournet discussed below - Professor Michael Swords also goes into more detail on the US Government's attitude towards UFO 'intelligent motion'.

Can't find a working link from February, 2000 but this was in the newspapers describing a policeman witnessing a UFO in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, England.

Quote:He claims that, approximately three weeks ago, (February 2000) he awoke about 10.30pm to a strange noise. At first he thought it to be a Quad Bike engine sound. He got up out of bed and walked to the window. (It was at this point Mr. Robert became agitated). He stated 'I wish I had never looked out of the window'. In the distance he noticed the noise coming from a combined harvester, probably from one of the local farms, as there is sheep in a field near by. He then suddenly looked to his right and was amazed to see, what only can be described as a metalic spinning top shaped UFO, just hovering completely silently about 50 feet away, Mr. Robert watched as the object slowly moved from left to right in a falling leaf motion about ten foot side to side.

He described the object to be shaped like a spinning top with a centre rim, and just above the rim was what looked like, portholes. One porthole had a blue light, as if there was illumination from inside the craft. There were belt type straps on top of the object and recalls how the moonlight relected of the top of it, as if metalic in structure. Mr. Robert then described watching a small blue light move out of the object and move around..

Potential candidate from Portugal in 1915?

Quote:Kripal is keenly aware of the parallels between the “Miracle of the Sun” and the contemporary UFO experience–the classic UFO “falling-leaf,” a.k.a. “zigzag,” maneuver is a particularly striking one–as well as the futility of trying to explain these parallels by supposing that the throngs at Fátima were “really” witnessing a visitation of interplanetary spaceships. Of course we could dismiss it all by invoking “mass hysteria.” But does that derogatory label really explain anything?
