Yeah sure Q. There is no diplomacy with Iran. You’re fixing to find that out AGAIN. We’ve been trying to be diplomatic with Iran for decades and if you haven’t noticed, they’re not having anything to do with it. I don’t expect this time to be any different.
My guess is that the strait will be taken by force. Just what do you think Iran is going to do about it? Send a drone and maybe get a hit, then get the wrath of god raining on them? Send a dingy?
Guarantee you there’s ABMD equipped ships in the fleet that will patrol the strait with our destroyers. They can’t do jack besides maybe be the ankle biters they’ve always been.
I guess we’re going to find out soon won’t we.
Apparently I’m in cult now, someone here told me so.

IT'S OFFICIAL: VP JD Vance REFUSED to cave to Iranians playing hardball in Pakistan
He flew to Pakistan, negotiated for nearly 20 hours, and didn't BUDGE AT ALL.
That's my VP! ??
VANCE: "The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon!"
"That is the core goal of the President of the United States, and that's what we've tried to achieve through these negotiations."
"Again, their nuclear programs, such as it is, the enrichment facilities that they've had before, they've been destroyed."
"But the simple question is, do we see a fundamental commitment of will for the Iranians not to develop a nuclear weapon, not just now, not just two years from now, but for the long term? We haven't seen that yet. We hope that we will."

I doubt the US had any intention whatsoever of backing off even an inch in those talks. The whole idea was pause, rearm bigger, get more troops in and go when ready. They are going to finish the job, and it's going to get bloody now. Boots on the ground, destroy IRGC by the thousands with close air support. We are going to lose some men. Sorry guys, but it's either this now, or wake up one morning to a nuked DC or NY. Gotta be done. Maul the Mullahs.

They just LOST EVERYTHING.
Trump is not letting China sell weapons to Iran. Tariff penalties.

‘Only’? So what have they lost, strategically speaking, apart from an air defence capability that was already proven irrelevant in June last year?
All the nuclear material is still there and, absent the treaty Trump trashed, so is the ultimate possibility of an Iranian bomb.
The Gulf States remain under imminent threat.
Iran is still raining missiles on Israel, which appears to have opportunistically shifted its attention to Lebanon, leaving its faithful American dog to police the Straits of Hormuz all alone.
Iran’s so-called ‘proxies’ are still in place and still pose a threat to Israel. All the bombing in the world will not shift Hamas, the Houthis or Hizbollah. The same bloody calculus pertains in such cases as it does in Iran: the bombing kills innocents, spares the well-dug-in belligerents and boosts support for resistance among the general population of those countries.
China is, supposedly, re-arming Iran, while the US and Israeli arsenals are rapidly running out.
Russia is providing the IRGC with signals intelligence on US forces, for which Trump is actually paying Putin by desanctioning his oil and gas. He is also paying Iran the same way, thereby increasing the quantity of arms it can buy from China to use against the hapless American soldiers, sailors and fliers your mad President throws at them.
And J.D. Vance, having failed to impose America’s wish-list on Iran, is back from Islamabad with his tail between his legs.
Nate Silver has Trump’s popularity at 39.6% this morning. I find this figure astonishing. Why isn’t it, at best, 3.96%? What the hell is wrong with Americans? How do they not see what is so obvious the rest of the world from, Tokyo to Tombouctou?
Welcome to America’s Suez moment

Of course they knew. US strategists and diplomats have been wargaming this literally for decades. They tried to warn Trump, but he ignored them and went ahead anyway. Article in the Evil Commie Wall Street Journal.
Quote:I think too many things that couldn’t be planned for caught them off guard and left them scrambling.
Only a fool goes to war when there are ‘too many things that couldn’t be planned for.’
Quote:He spends so much time reassuring everyone "things are going as planned" it makes me wonder who he is REALLY trying to convince of that.
Look at all the people on this thread whom he has apparently convinced! But I think the real answer is ‘himself’.

Isn’t that funny, a peace deal, truce and the Israel still attack Lebanon, still in Gaza and you blame Iran
Diplomacy, nonsense, you are israels attack dogs, and you are being mauled by Iran, Trump wants out but won’t be allowed
you wiped out their navy, except mines and subs, all talk
Talk it up but, as a non American, I hope Iran hands you and Israel your tails
Tell me, what are you doing in Iran, I missed it the first time
Lies.

Neither did Iran. Did you notice?

If he had made any concessions, how do you think his 2028 Republican nomination might go?
Quote:"The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon!"
Maybe he’d have seen that, if only he’d budged a bit.
But you didn’t really expect any different, did you? He’s a lackey whom Trump sent to Islamabad to collect a bill. He had no real authority to negotiate; no-one has, in the United States. Your government is like Zimbabwe’s was under Robert Mugabe – wired to the Big Man’s buttocks.
