"workable basis for talks'.    That's not an agreement.   The USA and Israel never agreed to their 10 point proposal.   There is ZERO chance that they will.    What Iran wants is absurd.   Control of the Strait when it's really international waters?   Never.

There is no ceasefire agreement.   
What Iran wants and what the world wants are two different things.
The best this thing going on can be realistically called is a 'pause'.   
Enough time for the two sides to collect the dead, regroup and reload.

I saw a video from a dude over there who explained what happened right prior to Khamenei meeting his 72 virgins. They said they split up Iran into 31 separate states and put a leader and team in each state with autonomous rule and their own separate authorities to fire weapons. Given the poor state of communications, it could explain a few things, like why Iran kept firing after the ceasefire. And that could also make any kind of non-sanctioned ship passages in the Straight very risky. You'd have multiple kingpins targeting you, and right hand wouldn't know what the left was doing. Insurance nightmare from hell.

This is why unless the world is ready to have Iran hold their ships hostage to endless extortion fees, Iranian capability to fire upon ships is going to need to be taken out 100%. 

So what if instead the US were to get a cut of those fees? So? You think that money would be put back into lower gas prices at the pump? I think hell no. It would find its way to everywhere else but that. Defense contractors for replenishment, reconstruction grants to GCC countries, etc., you name it. Public loses again. There is no choice in my view. They gotta do it and finish this job for a lot of reasons.

WASHINGTON, April 8 (Reuters) - Donald Trump's dramatic climbdown from his chilling threat to wipe out Iran's civilization has exposed the limits - and the rising risks - of the U.S. president's typically unpredictable negotiating style.
 His decision on Tuesday to back down and agree to a two-week ceasefire – which critics mockingly called another example of “TACO,” or “Trump always chickens out” – marked the biggest step so far toward de-escalating a 40-day-old war that has shaken the Middle East and disrupted global energy markets.
But Trump’s claims of victory over Iran overlooked questions about the effectiveness of mixing maximalist demands, erratic rhetoric and increasingly extreme threats.
Trump went further than ever before on Tuesday morning when he issued a stark warning to Iran via social media that unless it reached a deal “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”
After a day on the brink, Trump abruptly reversed his threats - which experts say could have amounted to war crimes - and announced a Pakistani-mediated truce agreement just two hours before a deadline he had set for Iran to open the blockaded Strait of Hormuz.

Despite Trump's triumphalist language, analysts say Iran is likely to emerge from the conflict as a continuing problem for Washington: militarily weakened but with a more hardline leadership, de facto control over the vital oil-shipping waterway and a buried stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
Trump has touted himself as a master negotiator since his real estate developer days, but some analysts say he can box himself in with his negotiating style and undermine U.S. credibility on the world stage.
"The president was trapped by his own hyperbole," said Jon Alterman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank in Washington. "He could not have destroyed Iranian civilization, and the costs of even appearing to try would have been massive."

But there was no sign Iran had lifted its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused the worst disruption to global energy supplies in history. Tehran said there would be no deal as long as Israel was striking Lebanon.

President Donald Trump may insist that he won the war in Iran with his bluster, but one conservative commentator bluntly observed in a recent editorial that “Trump's antics don't work on America's allies.”
“The essence of this low-road-for-me, high-road-for-thee dynamic rests on the belief that Trumpism is a one-way road,” wrote conservative commentator Jonah Goldberg in an editorial that appeared in the Grand Island Independent on Wednesday. “Insulting Trump, deservedly or not, is forbidden, while Trump's antics should be celebrated when possible, defended when necessary, or ignored when neither of those responses is possible. But he should never, ever face consequences for his own actions.”
He added that based on this principle “Trump has routinely mocked our allies. For efficiency's sake, let's forgive all of the petty jabs from the first term ostensibly intended to get them to spend more on defense.
