Trump says he bombed Iran

"Iran will require ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to pay the cryptocurrency equivalent of $1 per barrel of oil on board during the two-week ceasefire with the U.S, a key figure told the Financial Times.Hamid Hosseini, a spokesperson for Iran’s Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Products Exporters’ Union, which works with Iran’s government, told the Financial Times about the requirement on Wednesday.

He said that it will cost $1 per barrel of oil and that ships need to email Iranian authorities about what they are carrying.

“Once the email arrives and Iran completes its assessment, vessels are given a few seconds to pay in bitcoin, ensuring they can’t be traced or confiscated due to sanctions,” Hosseini told the newspaper.

He added that the measures are being put in place to make sure weapons are not carried through the strait."

Trump suggests US could charge toll for Strait of Hormuz passage

"
President Trump suggested Monday that the U.S. could impose its own tolls on vessels trying to transit through the Strait of Hormuz — a strategy employed by Iran as it continues to control the key energy shipping choke point.

During a White House press conference, a reporter asked Trump whether he would end the war while Iran was continuing to charge tolls for passage through the strait.

What about us charging tolls?” Trump responded.

“I’d rather do that than let them have them,” he added. “Why shouldn’t we? We’re the winner.”

This is a perfect example of someone who doesn't know the difference between a cease-fire proposal and a peace agreement.

PERFECT EXAMPLE.

Now the derp has spilled and is staining my carpet.

Politics is a schizophrenic job with so many competing views going on. Kinda not surprised that Trump is all over the place in dealing with the Middle East mess, does my head in too.

Should be number 10 sequentially... not number 1.

2 -  Continued Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz
Starting with the most important issue, then?

Extortion, however labeled, is a commerce of threats.

3  - Acceptance of Iran's uranium enrichment
Debatable... I get the request... never gonna happen since you proclaim death threat targets liberally.

4 - Lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions on Iran
This is officially a wish-list.  Also, is this a ceasefire with the US or the world?

5 - Termination of all UN Security Council resolutions against Iran
Talk to the UN about that... not to the force pummeling you.  We don't work for them.

6 - Termination of all International Atomic Energy Agency resolutions against Iran
Can you imagine the idea... "Oh, they don't face consequences and we don't monitor them anymore because..."  can you finish the sentence?

7 - Compensation for all war damages incurred by Iran
"Incurred by?"  That's lawyer talk for we are not liable for all we do.  Agreements that lack specificity are bullshit.

8 - Withdrawal of all U.S. military forces from the region
That might be agreeable... if it didn't mean you would just resume your 'normal' antagonisms. And laughably claim some manner of 'win.'

9 - Cessation of combat on all fronts, including conflicts involving Hezbollah in Lebanon
Demonstrably they are embracing the terrorist elements of their 'arm of engagement.'

10  - A binding UN resolution to formalize the ceasefire agreement
Now the world must fulfill the wish list... "binding" resolutions... the UN does that?  Nope.

-------------------------------------------------

I propose that if this is an accurate list presented to their opponents, they must have one hell of an ace up their sleeves to make it register as 'leverage.'  The strait excuse is transparently something they already 'lost.'

They do have several aces up their sleeves.

Not only can they block some oil supplies to the world, they are also blocking some fertilizer supplies to the world, and they are blocking some helium supplies to the world.

India, for instance gets 60% of their fertilizer via the Strait of Hormuz. Without fertilizer, agriculture on the Indian continent would produce only 10% yield of what it now does. This means that India is only months away from continent-wide famine.

Helium is also required in the production of ALL semiconductors. A 30% drop in supply means that production of electronic chips and components is going to be cut. So, fewer phones, computers, and all sorts of electronics can be produced, which means massive price hikes to consumers (not to mention killing datacentre projects and networks).

Not only that, but the sources of petrochemicals in the Middle East are all in range of Iran's missiles, so stuff that isn't even going through the Strait of Hormuz can be stopped by Iran if things are allowed to escalate.

And Iran has not crumbled in the month so far. They were clearly ready for, and have survived (militarily), the attacks and they may still probably be able to take the nuclear option if they are pushed to it. We don't want to find out!
Support the Christchurch Call
Trump should have helped Iranian protestors/revolutionaries carry out a coup against the regime during the protests that his administration sparked

Instead, he led a botched "Excursion" and now he's been relegated to the corner

The last 4 weeks since the war started, it's been Trump is a warmongering, world destroying asshole.

Since last night when the ceasefire was announced, it's been TACO, coward, he couldn't finish the job etc.

Multiple personality disorder comes to mind.

It's astonishing.

Liberal credibility has now reached farther into negative territory than I ever thought possible.

Liberal IQ's are also in negative territory, that puts them 2 steps above the amoeba.
