No. Part of the terms in being a nuclear power is Mutually Assured Destruction. nukes are there as an option of last resort when everything else has failed and all is lost. Every nation knows if nukes are used in a hostile act, the response will be in kind against that nation. Nukes have prevented some major hostilities from even starting as the only winner is death for all.

Another point of failure in this 'self defense' claim is how well protected is Israel now? Missiles falling from the sky, Bibi gone AI, the USD petrodollar in tatters, the Iranian population motivated, US Military basses all across the Middle East gone, damaged or under attack. One positive is road congestion in Dubai is down.

What what the point of this attack? You killed a leader who was working with the UN nuclear non proliferation treaty. They have nuclear reactors for power generation, got material they need to do something with? After the 28/2 hostile act, Iran is going ahead with international support to become a nuclear power. What you feared in nukes is now becoming the reality.

In killing past negotiators and performing this attack, it has raised the foreign threat against you. That is not self defense. Even Huckabee is open in claiming the US aren't interested in international law or laws of war hence why there has been no attempt by the White House to establish a legal basis for their action and Trump/White House are open is admitting they've launched the offensive based on Trump and Kushner's feelings not on any evidence or sought to establish any legal basis. Israel meet the self-defence criteria but the US doesn't.

I'm curious, since you mentioned international laws.  Is Iran interested, or does a holy war supersede laws according to their religion?

I doubt that they really adhere to international law. I’m willing to bet they know there’s a fat chance in hell they could have international law applied on their opponents either.

Even if our enemies don’t adhere to it though, I think we should. Consistency in that gives us more power on the international stage. And if we can’t follow international law when fighting non peer nations, than we have bigger problems.

Interesting to hear other cultures in the region have similar stories in how this religious forever war is going to go. Can so easily go for another 5-20 years, become another Ukraine type thing with its own differences. Who really know how this is going to end? AI and the mech winning all?
