There's no way in hell Iran or any other nation gets to control an international body of water....
The US ought to claim the Strait of Hormuz and rename it, the Strait of Trump.

Yea Iran is claiming to have hit three ships, we seized one and they allegedly chased us out. And they are upset about a one sided condemnation resolution at the UN, a reasonable reaction to it, but China will just veto it anyways.
Also China confirms a tanker seizure.
Just for shits and giggles, History of Iran in 35 minutes. References to ancient battles, leaders, cultures, and other such things, including Alexander the Great assimilating into Persian culture and contemplating merging Persian and Greek civilizations, how the Arab conquest failed to erase Persia as it had so many other civilizations, how scholars discreetly reassimilated the Persian identity through Islamic and how the Mongols almost wiped out Persia through extreme genocide only to once again get assimilated into Persian society under Islamic rule. Those who conquered them, only succeeded in becoming them and keeping the civilization alive. Goes up to modern times and today. Persian Islam is not Arab head chopping Islam. This is a very sophisticated culture and civilization that deserves respect. I acknowledge and respect that spirit.

BREAKING? U.S. SUPER HORNETS JUST LIT UP IRANIAN TANKERS in the STRAIT
Iran's leaders trying to hold the International Straight hostage. European and other countries do nothing against Iran. Trump is taking care of the situation.

I mean if they are shooting at one another, that's not a ceasefire...

Yeah, and it's only fair for Trump to pay for it. Perhaps they could do a swap, and give Iran a bit of water along the coast, too. Perhaps "the Gulf of We Stole This From Mexico"?

Renaming the Strait of Hormuz would not change the geography...
It's international waters shared between Iran and Oman.
Not a souvenir shop.

Finally. I am glad Trump has chosen to take care of the situation that he created.
Sure, he is still blaming the Europeans for some reason.
This is Trumps war after all, and none of his actions since taking office have changed the assessment that Iran is still 12 months away from having a bomb. Even after obliterate and decimating the country for months now.

I would not doubt it if Trump is actually driving Iran (and other countries) to create nuclear weapons that may act as future deterrents. It's working for North Korea, now isn't it?

It isn't international any more if they control it. Which they do appear to.
Have you noticed how these things work in real life? Declared marine territorial limits are not the same for all countries. The ones that have the power to enforce control over wider areas lay claim to wider areas. Weaker countries have to accept a three-mile or twelve-mile limit or whatever the minimum is. Sometimes bigger countries bully smaller ones over this, as China bullies the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei over the Spratly Archipelago.
Iran controls the Strait until someone stops them. The US has failed to do so. Are there any other candidates you propose for the job?
How maritime territorial limits evolved: Closure of Strait of Hormuz echoes a centuries‑old Danish play − and is a tragedy for the world order
