Yeah right, where is that happening?

Gas is still cheaper than when Biden was in office, inflation is also lower.

Begging you guys and China for help? In what way?

More bullshit.

Kharg Island has a civilian population of 8200

Sorry, that was an (obviously failed) attempt at tastefully understated sarcasm.
Rumors are that the Kharg Island population is somewhat imported oil industry types, and thier loyalties are more fluid than the average Iranian...

As of March 14-15, 2026 (around the time of your query on March 14 at 9:30 PM EDT), reports on the U.S. airstrikes on Kharg Island (which targeted over 90 military sites like naval facilities, missile storage, air defenses, and other IRGC-related infrastructure on March 13-14) indicate no confirmed casualties—killed or injured—directly from those specific strikes.Key details from reliable sources:
  • Iranian officials and state media (e.g., via Fars News Agency and local reports cited in Euronews, Al Jazeera, and others) explicitly stated that the strikes caused no casualties, with daily life and oil operations continuing normally. Oil storage tanks and export infrastructure were untouched, per U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and Iranian confirmations.
  • Explosions (reported as 15+ by Iranian media) and smoke were noted, but no damage to civilian or oil areas, and no reports of deaths/injuries on the island itself.
  • The U.S. emphasized "precision strikes" to avoid oil facilities, describing it as a warning rather than full destruction.
The situation remains fluid amid threats of escalation (e.g., Iran warning of retaliation against U.S.-linked oil sites if oil infrastructure is hit next). No independent verifications (e.g., from BBC, Reuters, or AP in targeted searches) contradict the "no casualties" claims for Kharg specifically, though fog-of-war means underreporting is possible on a small, restricted island with ~8,000–8,200 residents (mostly oil workers/families). If new reports emerge of trapped civilians or delayed counts, numbers could change quickly.

Trump hit Iran with an ultimatum: stop the Hormuz attacks or lose your oil infrastructure. After US strikes on Kharg Island military sites, Tehran blinked and ships are finally moving.
  • Chuck Biskits' post accurately summarizes U.S. President Trump's March 14, 2026, ultimatum to Iran, demanding an end to Strait of Hormuz attacks or face strikes on oil infrastructure, followed by targeted U.S. airstrikes on Kharg Island's military sites that spared export terminals.
  • Video evidence from the thread depicts a U.S.-linked tanker ablaze off the UAE coast after an alleged Iranian drone strike, illustrating the immediate risks to global oil shipping amid escalating U.S.-Iran tensions.
  • Post-strike reports confirm resumed vessel traffic in the Strait, suggesting Iran's temporary de-escalation, though Reuters notes three tankers damaged in related incidents, underscoring ongoing vulnerabilities in the region.

Kharg Island has a civilian population of 8200

If you take out all the military targets on Kharg Island with air strikes but leave their oil infrastructure untouched that's because you want to be able to pump Iran's oil into tankers after you (presumably) defeat Iran. This is the same general plan as in Venezuela--create a regime change with swift military strikes, negotiate a deal with whoever is left in charge afterwards, and put their oil on the international market under the control of US oil companies. I guess this is supposed to be "energy dominance".

However, if that's the plan, then you should have the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) nearby and ready to go as soon as you finish the air strikes. But the MEU is currently in the Philippine Sea and will take about 5 or 6 days to get to the Strait of Hormuz. Seems like Trump should either have prepositioned the MEU or waited on the air strikes until the MEU arrived. This now gives the IRGC 5 or 6 days to figure out a response.

The problem here is that the swift military strikes did not create a regime change. The civilian leadership in Iran is supposedly engaged in backchannel talks with Trump to maybe negotiate some kind of end to the hostilities, but the IRGC is still in charge of military activities and is basically telling the civilian government there that they intend to draw the line at Kharg Island. The IRGC needs the oil revenues to stay alive and are willing to attack all the oil facilities of the surrounding Arab nations in a tit-for-tat exchange in order to try to make that happen.  I think the IRGC idea here is that the Arab oil producing nations will gang up on Trump and apply economic pressure to make him back off.

I think the Arab nations might be willing to try that, since if Iran starts blowing up their refining and storage capacity and their de-salinization plants, the Arab nations are going to be in a world of hurt for years if not decades.

This could get real intense and ugly in the next week.
