Many people seem compelled to invoke the sympathy of others by claiming a circumstance like "addiction" or "depression."
Most who have been overtaken by a substance, or had their very life forces suddenly disappear for no reason could be forgiven for being offended.
The word "Addiction" - which is the central idea I commenting on here... is no longer a clinical term. (Incidentally, nether is "depression.")
"Addiction" was about an individual finding it physically impossible to survive without the substance... physical illness would be the result of abstinence.
Addiction is about a physical need... Not "behavior."
The first is the realm of medical science to describe physically...
the second is a psychological playground... (ahem.)
Apparently, some doctors hold that a combination of patient utterances is enough to diagnose addiction....
(hence an "addiction" explosion....)
Their ideation includes the potential future medical headline... "Man stops masturbating without medical oversight... dies," or "Woman 'cold turkeys' social media... head explodes, 6 injured."
