Trump Executive Order okays incarceration of homeless
(07-27-2025, 10:15 PM)Bootless Wrote: 1) There is a bit of projection, comparing what has been and is happening with ICE raids, with what is likely to happen in homeless encampment raids.

2) I've only seen large quantities of urban homeless camping one time in San Francisco, it was early 2000s, when rolling blackouts were a thing due to Enron shenanigans. I don't remember seeing crap on the sidewalks, but I wasn't looking for it particularly. I saw a lot of depressed (listless) looking people.

3) The cops will have more lee-way and less accountability under the EO rather. As I showed in a previous post.

4) No. Shelters and food kitchens may be spared, depending on who is running them. Those deemed unacceptable probably will get raided.

Ok this will be my last time posting in this thread since it's clear that many haven't even read the EO.
(1) Many Homeless are US Citizens that have legal rights so no it shouldn't be anything like those ICE raids on illegals.

(2) Maybe get out more, this homeless issue has spread to many cities in the US. Open drug use, defecation in the streets and in and on store fronts, not to mention the theft that has caused many major businesses to close their doors are rampant. All based around exploiting homeless camps to hide in and abuse the people that need help.

(3) Maybe go talk to a cop before you post junk like that. Most Law Enforcement Officers understand that if the homeless were able to receive the help they need, then crime would go down.

(4) This EO literally opens the doors to grants that will allow for states to pay for these exact type of programs. Many of these states right now are bitching about the EO though purely based on the fact that these new grants must be fully accounted for so certain states will no longer be able to grift from the HIC.

Now just so I'm clear here, Bootless, I'm not gripping about you when I say that people are not reading the EO.

If you could explain what I’m supposedly falling for, that would be appreciated.

As far as I can establish, the man in question, one Richard Bertrand Spencer, born May 11, 1978, is indeed a real person.

He is an American political activist who is widely described by reliable sources as a neo-Nazi, antisemitic conspiracy theorist, and white supremacist.

If you have information to the contrary or evidence that disproves any of the above, I suggest you present it.

You've been here long enough to understand how the burden of proof works, and you know full well that the onus is on you to support your claims.

Can it be all they have to do is not harass people and crap all over sidewalks?  Maybe live in shelters or their car and look for work instead of camping out all over downtown areas, do drugs, and harass people?

Can it be the cops are given discretion over who to arrest based on unacceptable behavior and wouldn't just run any homeless person in?

Do you seriously think they're getting ready to raid soup kitchens and shelters?

When has giving the police vague discretion and zero oversight ever gone wrong?

Let’s just assume they'll magically know the difference between someone who's "just down on their luck" and someone "camping too hard."

Never mind that the executive order is written like a tough-guy monologue with almost no specifics, legal safeguards, or real services involved.

It basically says, "Clean up the streets, however you want."

And no, they're not "just asking people not to crap on the sidewalk" they're criminalising homelessness, plain and simple.

As for soup kitchens? No one's raiding them ""yet"" but the order clearly punishes any program not aligned with this "round 'em up" mindset.

So if you think this is about helping people find jobs from their cars, you're missing the point.

This isn't reform. It’s a PR stunt for people who think homelessness can be arrested away.

Spoiler, It can't and never will be with that sort of attitude.

Big fabricated sob story too  Lol

The fact remains that homelessness has increased 18% since 2024 and Trump has not actioned anything to address the problem of providing affordable housing or lowering groceries/gas/necessities.

It is a factual sob story from what I can see.

So, once again, blaming Trump for Biden's shortcomings? What a surprise.....  And also to make sure you get this right, homelessness did has not risen 18% since 2024, it rose 18% in 2024.  But we all know you will ignore that

Or, take the county I live in for example, we have one person that is the County Executive mainly being over the tax assessment of the county. Let's call him Whank Frite. Since I bought my house in 2021, my tax assessment has gone up over 50%, all due to this one person deeming that my house is worth more. Not Trump, not people on the senate or HOR, but this one POS in my county that feels it necessary to raise taxes so high it forces people to sell their house and leave the county.

You should look at the areas that have the highest percentage of homelessness and evaluate what might be causing that, not just blaming the man that took over the dumpster fire from the last admin.  I'll even give you a hint, the cities with the highest and most out of control homeless problems are run by Democrats.......LA, NY, Chicago, Detroit, Austin, KC, etc.

Hundreds of thousands of illegals have been deported so far which will help with the lack of affordable housing.
Trump is also trying to get the fed to lower rates which will help.
Eggs are much cheaper now.
Its surprising you don’t hear the crying about egg prices anymore since it’s all anybody was talking about.
Gas prices lower now too.
Its 2.75 where I am.
Actioned.

What about affordable housing? Walmart is raising prices, not lowering them. What did Trump say about grocery prices...oh yeah "Hard to bring things down."

CNBC analysis shows Walmart prices increased as much as 51% following tariffs

"target raising pricesTarget has announced that it will raise prices as a "very last resort" to mitigate the impact of tariffs on consumers. The company has been facing challenges due to tariffs, which have led to a drop in sales and uncertainty about the future. CEO Brian Cornell has warned that consumers may start to feel the impact of these price"

Trump has no power to raise or lower gas prices, that is out of his hands

Again, what is Trump doing to provide affordable housing?

Deporting undocumented immigrants doesn't meaningfully solve affordable housing issues, which stem from your zoning laws, supply shortages, and rising construction costs.

If anything, it's apt to drive the cost of rent/mortgages per calendar month up.

It does seem weirdly disconnected...

Reporting tells us that we are crushed by illegal immigrants...

yet... the system we have developed seems devoted to protect itself for it's own sake.

Rules are made for the benefit and increased power of the institution...

with each rule... people are de-legitimized, swept into the "process," and more revenue
has to be diverted to facilitate new "rules."...

Of course the key here is "reporting."

Too bad we can't trust ANY reporting 'business' to actually report.

They'll tell you how to think, feel, and express yourself on this matter...
"Consumers" don't think... they are 'delivered' the information they are to consume...
Ever wonder why to really talk about this stuff... you almost have to hide?
