Trump Executive Order okays incarceration of homeless

At a June congressional budget hearing, HUD Secretary Scott Turner argued policies like time limits will fix waste and fraud in public housing and Section 8 voucher programs.

“It’s broken and deviated from its original purpose, which is to temporarily help Americans in need,” Turner said. “HUD assistance is not supposed to be permanent.”"

Thank you.

I was wondering what was planned for section 8.
My room lord's mother is totally dependent on section 8. A time limit would for sure put her on the street. There is no prospect that she's going to be able to up her income in a year or two.
There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people. - Commander William Adama

"1.4M of the nation’s poorest renters risk losing their homes with Trump’s proposed HUD time limit"

"A Trump administration proposal could put more than a million low-income households at risk of losing their government subsidized housing. That’s according to new research from New York University - obtained exclusively by The Associated Press.

HUD assistance needs to be permanent until the government fixes what is really broken and deviated, that being the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer; the economic pyramid scheme isn't working for the middle and lower classes.

I can see why Associated Press is not welcome anywhere near Trump because he must keep deflecting to other shiny objects so his base does not get wise.

Or are Americans okay with just incarcerating the increasing numbers of homeless that will be coming down the pipe from a lack of government action where it needs to be? Your tax dollars at work.

Too much supposition and speculation in that article!!!
Big fabricated sob story too  Lol

UK has the worlds biggest homelessness problem, second to Gaza I guess.
Lack of housing wouldn’t be an issue if not for rapid mass immigration, in both the US and the UK.
Fixing the housing shortage won’t fix the homelessness problems in itself in either country, but it’s absolutely contributing to them.
We will see how Trump’s EO affects homelessness and hopefully it helps remedy it and then maybe the UK can address their elephant in the room. (Banksy)

Also Bootless, Section 8 is not permanent.

Congratulations, 3-1 on penalties.

But, for a Jock, his English is impeccable.  Mostly.

But if you have to resort to such criticism, it's rather... pathetic.

Suspect as in I suspect that graffiti was done by someone who’s native language isn’t English.
Further stoking the flames of the immigration debate going on there.

There is already a two tier justice system there.
Women posting words on the internet are doing more prison time than your Islamic neighbors who are found guilty of rape, pedofilia and terror offenses.
It’s almost at the point where the US should stop bombing Middle East countries and concentrate on liberating the UK.
UK had 354,000 homeless in 2024 and it’s rising faster than any other country.
I believe if the British had any good answers for homelessness, they would be putting them to use instead of what’s really happening.
Hopefully the Trump EO has some good fixes that will help the UK as well.

Brits are bringing in almost 3 times as many per capita compared the the US, and that data was before Trump.

During Trump's first term, America still averaged 940,000 green cards a year, down from Obama era 1.1 million
His mind was not for rent to any god or government
