Quote:Joe Rogan recently had Zahi Hawass on his podcast. In a clip of another episode where he was recounting that interview, the famous Helicopter Hieroglyphs at Abydos were brought up, along with the 'wooden plane' which I assume is the Saqqara Bird. (Graham Hancock was also mentioned but let's not get into that).

The so-called "helicopter hieroglyphs" at Abydos are a popular example of a modern myth fueled by pareidolia, our tendency to see familiar shapes in random patterns.
These carvings are actually overlapping inscriptions from different periods of ancient Egyptian history.

I suppose that's because the red granite possibly hints at an earlier construction phase or renovation.
Which may challenge conventional timelines.
Allegedly transported from Aswan, over 500 miles away, its present location would certainly seem to invite questions about the ancient logistics involved in moving the stone alone.

If you want a rabbit hole, granite obelisks are old timey solid state hard drives.
Mention it next time you're at the lodge.
I was not here.

Well, i suppose they do store data, essentially in a long-term, read-only manner.
Massive, immobile, and hard to edit, much like early solid-state drives.
I dig the analogy.
Why would i be "at the lodge" all the same?
Not really my bag.

They're not read only, we just lost the tech (or it was taken away from us) to read them, we CAN write to them tho.
Yeah this is tinfoil sstuff, but is that why we're here?

Yeah, we can write to them, hence "the hard-to-edit" part. ;)
What lost tech thought?
Speculate away, ile play as long as time allows.

You mean the granite "Dream Stela" of Thutmose IV?
If not, what granite?

The glyphs are part of the five-fold titulary used by Egyptian pharaohs.
The part concerned is called the "nebty name," aka the "twol ladies name."
Rameses II plastered over his father's (Seti I) titulary (which was itself carved into a plaster layer) on that lintel and replaced it with his own.
Damage caused parts of the second layer of plaster (and even some of the first) to fall out, resulting in the "helicopter" image.
Similar jumbled hieroglyphs can be seen all along that lintel.
