Define "fair share".
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

You are a slave to rich people?

In what way?

Me, too!
So another vote for rugged individualism.

Should the collectivism mindset take over, it will try to annihilate anyone who colors outside the lines or thinks outside the box.

Bishop Robert Barron Comment on Warmth of Collectivism

Quote:"He said he intended to replace ‘the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.’  Collectivism in its various forms is responsible for the deaths of at least 100 million people in the last century," Barron wrote.

"For God’s sake, spare me the ‘warmth of collectivism.'

"Socialist and communist forms of government around the world today — Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, etc. — are disastrous," explained Barron. "Catholic social teaching has consistently condemned socialism and has embraced the market economy, which people like Mamdani caricature as ‘rugged individualism.’  "In fact, it is the economic system that is based upon the rights, freedom and dignity of the human person."

And right after saying that he reversed the executive orders of the previous Mayor that were in place to combat anti-semitism.    That's his version of 'warmth of collectivism' for the Jews'.   This guy is a freaking nightmare.

"Rugged Individualism" is what America is all about.   It's what we built the country on.   Whining about it proves that he's just a foreigner who doesn't understand our country or our culture.  He just wants to impose his own foreigner ideals.

Here

Quote:First of all, ‘rugged individualism’ is Americanism. It’s what built this country. A rejection of this idea by the mayor of New York City is unsettling enough, but the second part of that sentence is even worse.

The warmth of collectivism? He is coming right out and admitting that he is a communist. Collectivism is a central tenet of the communism that destroyed the Soviet Union and starved millions of people in China under Mao.

When I first read about him saying that on "X", the next post was "Is this real?". That's how it hit me also. My mind was saying it's just not possible that someone as powerful as the Mayor of NYC is saying that. There are only an estimated 90,000 Democratic Socialists of America, and one of them just became the Mayor of NYC.

That should send a chill down everyone's spine, and for those who it does not, they don't understand what that means. He's not talking about a free society. Combine that with his open hatred of Israel (and his veiled hatred of the Jewish Faith), and you get a dangerous man.

Before anyone misreads what I'm saying, it has not a damn thing to do with his religious beliefs. He's a political animal, and if you read his history and the history of his parents, you will realize that religion likely plays almost no role in his ideology. His hatred of Israel looks to be purely political to me.

Republicans and Democrats in the United States are just different facets of the same system, but the Democratic Socialists are an entirely different system of government. It's taking a huge leap towards a two-class society, where a small ruling class dictates to the rest of us and they pretend it's Democratic, which it is decidedly not. It's clear that the Democrats who voted for him do not understand that he is not an actual Democrat in the American sense.

This topic could, and should be an interesting conversation about something important. It would be nice if the usual suspects avoid the personal attacks on each other and actually join in with some posts with substance. Just sayin  Rolleyes

Note to "rugged individualists":

They're not going to leave you alone.

The collectivists will continue incrementally encroaching on every aspect of your life, until you have nothing left.

It does not matter how many libertarian tears you cry.
