A grand jury does not include the defense or the accused as part of its proceedings. 
They are non adversarial and only the prosecution gets to present “evidence” and call witnesses.
Hence the saying… “a grand jury would indict a ham sandwich if a prosecutor wanted them to.”
Is that not how they do it there on the island, counselor?
