You should limit the number of direct questions per post that can be asked to the opponent, with answers expected at penalty of points lost if ignored. Limit them to 1 or 2 to avoid the tactic of eating up an opponent's response-space with a distracting flood of questions.

And, while it's fair that you two discuss possible rules, I think you should agree to let Maxmars take you input and formalize what he thinks is best, to be posted in the debate thread and followed without contention.

One aggressive tactic in debate is to compel your opponent to"consume space and time" responding to points that aren't part of the topic... or aren't in contention.

Of course there are some strategies to mitigate that problem too...

You sir, are in my opinion, another fine candidate for a kick-ass debate team...

Since this entire affair is distinctly outside my influence, I can only offer what we have thus far established for debate competition, in the place of any voids in this evidently "unsanctioned" debate.

To be fair... no "Fighter Status" can be conferred to participants... which is not especially meaningful, or any incentive... just FYI if you'd like to have more focused discussions in the fighter forum at will.  (Imagine discussions without "wildly distracting insertions"... the joy.)

Also... whatever judgement rules better be accepted in advance.... no debates there....
or this is not a debate at all... just an excellent dialogue between two people... which is also a total win.
