or am I just slow?

It is odd that Hegseth is bombing anything that even looks remotely like a drugs boat coming from South of the U.S., and yet dozy Don is pardoning drug dealers??

Why? It's not about the drugs, really, it's about the political/economic alignment of Venezuela. They cannot be allowed to act against our interests. Allowing such would embolden others in our southern hemisphere. The drug issue is obviously real, but not in the way its presented, and not much of that has to do with Venezuela. Everyone knows that; it's only being presented as a drug issue as an excuse for the weak-kneed. Are you really going to pretend you're just noticing that the US will cooperate with criminals? It would be stupid not to, otherwise their own locally-grown criminals would destroy whatever tree-hugger an idealist would put in place.

Yeah, I get what your saying.
It's just that one part of the administration sometimes seems so far from the other. It's not they're on different pages, I think they reading different books sometimes.  Spin

Pro-wrestling really did contribute to understanding of American politics with the term "kayfabe"¹. It's not just that the audience knows it's fake. It's that the performers know that the audience knows it's fake. And that the audience knows that the performers know that the audience knows it's fake. But since everyone agrees it wouldn't work and would be rather silly to agree to admit that aloud, it proceeds in due course. And there's always the true believers, bless their hearts.

That's okay with me. The US is more likely to be working in my best interests.

I think it might be a result of having to "suspend disbelief" over 50 years of "news broadcasting."

Only now, are some directly addressing the disconnect between ANY produced "news" and "fair and balanced."  It's all partisan, activist, mind-bending garbage.  If someone will pay to produce it... you can bet it's not for free.

With the advent of new technological tools, reality can be fully simulated for the purposes of broadcast news... I can't wait to witness what's to come... and the noble causes that engenders the rumored upcoming "sacred lie."

And how much of that lie we will "buy into" (under threat of highly televised peril and pain.) will be built on upon things we actually 'sort of' knew were lies all along... but they were entertaining...

I hate Maduro. But its Venezuela's problem.

But if the US starts another illegal war of aggression then the defending Venezuelans have my full support and I hope they turn it into another Vietnam for America.

I found this little article this morning, and found it interesting.

Russia has always tried to get a foot hold in South American since the old USSR days, you'd have to have been living under a rock to not of heard about the Cuban missile crisis.

Russia has always wanted to have more influence on Americas' borders, but has never really been in a position to do so since the fall of the USSR.
It's been suggested that Russia has been behind a lot of the people smuggling gangs and cyber attacks to try to destabilise and sow division in Europe, in it's efforts at a 'hybrid' war against NATO.
Is this Russia trying to do the same thing in South America now?

What's the opinion of the D.I. members??

Their nation is economically strained, overextended in Ukraine, and heavily dependent on a few partners like China and Iran.

Hopefully, that may limit its ability to project serious power into South America.

I thought some of these Trump supporting NeoCons  in favour of invading Venezuela  were pro Putin and Russia?  I mean they are quiet happy to hand over Ukraine to Russia.

There may be a measure of one rule for some, another for the rest at play i suppose.
