This would help our household tremendously...
Now, only if they would revise that commissions are technically just "tips" from your company for "good service."

Too bad this didn't take effect last year. I was all over the country doing first article inspections (FAIs) and was making a ton of overtime.

Still has to pass the Senate, whose members have said they would change it - which means it would then have to go back to the House for another vote.

Rand Paul said he’s a hard no, and I can’t imagine them making changes to it to win him over. Currently the Republicans have a decent lead though 53-45-2
I do like his reasoning and standing his ground.
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5314...-bill/amp/
Quote:“We’ve never, ever voted to raise the debt ceiling this much. It’ll be a historic increase. I think it’s not good for conservatives to be on record supporting a $4 [trillion] or $5 trillion increase in the debt ceiling,” he said.
Paul said the expected yearly deficit will be $2 trillion over the next two years if the bill passes in the upper chamber.
“It’s not conservative; I can’t support it,” he said.

While the Republicans aren't as good at primarying congresspeople and Senators as the DNC, they are learning, and there could be a snapback.
FWIW, here's Grok's suggestions
https://x.com/i/grok/share/1RkB35sqZukplWJzSALaRKq3M
Quote:Likely Outcome
The bill has a reasonable chance of passing the Senate due to the reconciliation process and Trump’s sway over the GOP, but it will likely undergo significant revisions. Senate Republicans are already planning changes to address concerns over Medicaid, the debt, and other provisions, which could delay passage or require another House vote. The House’s razor-thin margin (215-214) suggests that major Senate alterations could jeopardize final approval if they alienate House conservatives or moderates. Speaker Johnson has urged the Senate to minimize changes to ensure swift passage.
Timeline and Next Steps- Senate Republicans aim to pass the bill by July 4, 2025, aligning with Trump’s and Johnson’s goal to avoid a debt ceiling crisis by mid-July.
- The Senate is expected to debate and amend the bill over the coming weeks, with potential sticking points including Medicaid cuts, SALT deductions, and clean energy provisions.
- If amended, the bill must return to the House for another vote, where GOP unity remains uncertain.
Conclusion
While the bill’s passage in the House is a significant step, its fate in the Senate hinges on resolving internal Republican disagreements and addressing fiscal concerns. It’s likely to pass in some form due to the reconciliation process and GOP control, but amendments are almost certain, and the final version may differ substantially from the House bill. For the latest developments, monitor Senate debates and statements from key figures like Thune and Hawley.

Well, hold your horses on parts of the BBB. No tax on CASH tips, in other words you don't have to claim what you get tipped out in cash. Great for the team, although getting service members to claim %100 was always a challenge. Doesn't apply to CC tips which in my tap rooms, is about 90% of transactions. Unfortunately, this won't equate to much support at all.

Murkowski, Collins, Paul, Scott, Johnson, and Hawley most notably. Maybe others too.
I'm thinking it's going back to the house.

Yeah, it feels like thats the case and it's a pure DC political power struggle, no telling how much you scratch my back Ill scratch yours is going on, Ive got no problem with that... no doubt all of them got calls from thier constituents.
For a representative democracy this one part where it's working as it should, and its not one of Trump's strong suites, I know he wants it done by July 4th but they got till August there's no hurry.
Id imagine only the miserable menopausal Murkowski, and the perpetually peeved Paul are the only ones that can't be flipped but we shall see.

I would be happy about this more than most of you. One of the very unique things to the entertainment industry is OT and DT is based on the day not the week. Because the nature of gig work we have a set days hours...the labor side is usually 8hr per union standards and freelancers like me do 10hr days. The next 4hrs after the 8 or 10 is OT and anything past it DT. You have no idea how much that would save me. My average day is probably 12-14hrs. Effectively that cuts tax on like 1/3 of my income yearly...

Meanwhile they all take kick backs to their charity or NGOs from our taxes while the infrastructure degrades and vets live on the street and have some of the worst healthcare. But ya know...par for the course.
