Well, I prefer the spirit of the law. And dont think all cases should be pursued to fill quotas. 

Like a person that came here illegally 15 years ago and that was the only law they ever broke. That has since built a life in OUR community. Made it THEIRS too.  Sure, they might hire others like them at their short-order Mexican food stand, but I dont think it has a negative collateral effect when they're employed. 

I think the letter of the law is being heartless here, and dont give a damn about its appeal to authority and "law enforcement."

The CHP officers spirit of law lets me go.

An infraction  was committed by driving 19 MPH over the posted limit too.  

What about the time I was clocked at 97 and they wrote me up for 84?  Was that enforcement of law? 

It was by San Onofre. Posted 70. Definitely criminal speeding reduced to the minimum citation on the spot. 

Maybe its because I'm white and privileged? Because a vato in a lowrider Impala probably isn't getting a 2 minute talking to like me... Maybe searched?  

Its almost like only white people that dont carry a defacto suspicion get the spirit of the law sometimes.. or at least traditionally.

But then again... Traditionally "illegals" (whose only crime was crossing illegally) didn't get screwed with when they've been here a decade. There was still a some "grandfather clause" ideology.

9/10 some large pickup truck speeding past me in a 40 zone going 70 and almost hitting other cars, I presume as the racist I am , itto be a mexican kid , I ask the wife and she says 'no it was a white chick'
