Who said anything about having prior knowledge?

People are amazingly quick on the internet, you know this right?  Not always correct, for sure, but when it comes to digging up history on some animal that does this kind of thing, (and even sometimes innocent people) some people just have the skills to dig up anything that person has put on line.

This is not new, for sure.   Sometimes it scares me, how fast they are.  Certainly eye opening.

Those pictures were not taken after the fact. They must have been posted and passed around prior to the tragic killing.

Trans is just one stage of mental illness.

And from the videos and postings of this guy that I've seen online, he had many, many stages of mental illness.

I don't think there are enough psychiatrists in this country to handle the treatments for the amount of mental illness we see brewing out in the wild.

I'd really like to know what we are going to do about this epidemic?

Thank you so much for this.   He reads as confused and broken, and apparently he didn't understand why he was driven to do such horrible crimes.  

How does a grieving parent get closure from this?   What could have been done to prevent it?  It is an act of terrorism that a broken, mentally deranged person perpetuated.    I have come to understand that the background check takes too long, and some sellers bump past it.  I well believe in the 2nd Amendment, but I think it is time to crack down on gun shows selling firearms, personal sales without registration change, and increased vetting of people buying firearms.   

I know, I know.  I can hardly believe myself saying these things myself.  I think that we cannot prevent the attack of a terrorist;  if a person is willing to sacrifice themselves, there is no bodyguard that can prevent the attack.   I think that with the increase in population, we have an increase in mentally disturbed folk.   Some of those mentally disturbed folk had horrific ideas.  Serial killers.  End-of-days killers.  I think that we really can't guard against them.   55 years ago, when I was a boy, there was a Serial killer running around the intermountain area in which I lived in the Northwest U.S.  He was said to have had a reasonable upbringing, and everyone said, "he was such a nice person."   Yep.  He was just broken, is all.

Much like Crooks and other mass shooters, after they are 18, there isn't much those close to these persons can do. But thats where it starts, those closest to them... and it's not just trans kids, though it's an extra layer and like any personal issue, a potential trigger mechanism.

Since we can't nor should we Minority Report people for thought crimes, unless the ability was used to put defensive measures in place, to be position to counter the crime before it happens. Police can't just read a manifesto and arresto... 

First contact needs to be mental health care professionals, but they would need the authority to recommend immediate insertion in a mental health facility that carries some weight.

Some Americans have significant mental problems. There will always be some, no matter how good or comprehensive health care becomes.

In America, access to ranged (those that can repeatedly kill at a distance) weapons is easier than in several other countries.

Sure, armed defenders might be able to protect some, but their response is only after the fact, and is also not 100% effective.

So, the proliferation of ranged weapons among the public can only mean that a proportionally higher number of innocents will be maimed and killed by those of unsound mind.

And then there are crimes and suicides as additional motivators for malicious firearms use, that my be unrelated to mental illness.

It seems the actual solutions, the ones that work, are fairly clear...

Possession of firearms without strong authorization, or without any justification for use other than intention to use them against other human beings (even defensively), must be considered criminal intent under law (as it is in other countries).
