Isreal launches strikes on Iran

Although I am sure that many factors come into play, I would think that "nuking" a nuclear enrichment facility would not pose much more of a fallout risk than the actual nuclear weapon deployed?

Isn't it reasonable to suggest that any nuclear material "stirred up" by the blast would,, itself, be consumed by the blast as well?

Then again, since, to my knowledge, no one has ever nuked a nuke site, perhaps it is presumptuous to speculate.



It does seem, however, that since only the US has, and can deploy, the only non-nuclear warhead capable of destroying Iran's deeply fortified enrichment facilities, and that the destruction of those facilities is, currently, key to Israel terminating its assault;

Either the US commits to direct engagement with Iran by sending in its bombs and bombers,

Or, stands by while Israel possibly deploys its own long-rumored, nuclear assets to bring about the "peace" it claims to desire.

Bleak options either way.

It isn’t an either or situation. Israel can still hit deeper bunkers, with non nuclear weapons (which aren’t a guarantee of hitting a buried bunker), it is just harder and will require more weapons.

I just read an article that Iran must use very expensive missiles and now Israel, having air superiority, can now use much cheaper retrofitted dumb bombs to hit targets in Iran.

If all of this is true and Iran's air defenses have been mostly destroyed by Israel, if the US gets involved it is just going to be a free for all since Iran is defenseless. It is almost unfair.

There's no hurry the IAF has disrupted the nuclear program in Iran for a few weeks, best to let things simmer, the IAF can target where they want to target. The decision to wipe their nuclear program out with Uncle Sam's assistance can wait.

I agree with you. 

The USA probably doesn't even need to get involved. It seems the Israeli's are in total control of the situation.

The Situation Room is frequently used for classified briefings and monitoring situations. Being in it doesn't mean something is about to happen, it just means that there's a reason for him to be in there.

 Israel will just pound Iran's infrastructure, which the nuclear program depends on, if it won't eliminate the threat, but it will degrade it enough to put it on the back burner, and see what flares up next.
