To be fair, this comes from the same people who told us that Iraq had WMD. Israel played a big role in that.

Israel has said Iran will have a nuke soon for decades now. I remember every few years it was just months or weeks away.

Maybe they were actually getting close this time, but I wonder if that was our problem. NK has nukes, Pakistan has nukes. 

I'm also not confident this would just be a quick in and out. Iraq and Afghanistan took decades, We've also dropped an insane amount of bombs on Yemen to no avail, and that is just a separatist force. Iran is very mountainous, and I don't see how they would be easier than any of the others. For decades, most Americans haven't bought into the motivation to take on Iran, especially the communities who could see this was always a plan from the warhawks.

Well...if they weren't enriching or perusing nuclear weapons why bury the sites doing the work. Why not allow inspectors in. Why all the secrecy...we all know it would be beneficial for them to have them with the power dynamic in the region.

To be clear I don't fault Iran for wanting nuclear weapons. Inam just saying that once we start down this road its all or nothing...and regime change last time it happened in a nuclear nation was very very messy.

Well...if they weren't enriching or perusing nuclear weapons why bury the sites doing the work. Why not allow inspectors in. Why all the secrecy...we all know it would be beneficial for them to have them with the power dynamic in the region.

I was fine with Israel enacting their own prerogative. I was even fine with us assisting protecting them from retaliation. Getting directly involved is a bridge too far though.

Most of us from ATS have always warned against getting involved with Iran, Left, Right, and Independent. Very few have ever thought this was a good play.

I agree we should not be doing this...but now that we are...it must be done. My solve is give Isreal the GBU-57 and let them do the deed to furdow...but that still doesn't solve the issue. They could have other sites buried. It will at this point take boots on the ground to ensure the job is done. Leave the job half done and it will bute us in the ass...mark my words.

They don’t have anything that can carry it. Only large bombers can carry it.

Not sure why only you Zaphod I can't quote replies to...but, what you're saying is only US bombers could strike Furdow? I guess for Isreal to accomplish their goal stated is that they actually put boots in Furdow.
