I like your framing of mysticism as relationship building that moves from self-centeredness to humility.

Where I'd beg to differ is in calling early desires "selfish."

They're often just natural entry points.

As to superpowers, well, i won't lie, those would indeed be desirable.

Agreed. Entry points. The first step to knowing God is doubting and hating, then and then and then, (but use whatever term you like e.g. The Cosmos, Higher Power, it's all the same and doesn't require your definition.)

It begins with separateness, then joining, then wholeness, then repeat on the next iteration. Gee I think I've described this somewhere before...

But as I said it becomes a more personalized and individual journey. Did I want to know the mind of The Cosmos, or get that big job promotion? Can we serve 2 masters? 

As for the parlor tricks, my experience is they're pretty useless. I still have nothing I want in life, but perception and resignation. The attachments fall away. The dream is warm and pleasant enough.

Well, like i suggest, if it works for you, you do you. 

But in practice, serving two masters tends to lead to conflict because each master has different demands. 

When goals diverge, you are always forced to choose one or the other. 

As to attachments, life has a habit of creating more of those as you go along the road.

Or at least that's my experience thus far.

We live in a violent world Sirius. I think it's good to walk softly but as the old saying goes, also 'carry a big stick.

Its a sad affair.

I see China had a nice military parade recently. All that might and endeavour for what? Would that we humans would use all that effort to build a better world. Somehow people think it's all acceptable and normal.

It's a mad world.

Reading minds?

I recently played a card game, forgot the name but the aim was for all other players (except Thanos) to kill Thanos, so my grandson-in-law was Thanos and I got two high cards in my hand. So I declared to everyone that I'll fight Thanos, where I had to choose one of two cards from his hand and I needed to choose the lesser card than the card I put down, but other players were also trying to kill Thanos so they would toss in a marker to add to my card numbers.

Anyway, I intensely looked in his eyes to see if I could mind read which card to pick, but his eyes flicked at the card that he did not want me to pick, so I picked that card. He then moaned, but I told him that he let me know the card by flicking his eyes in that direction.

So the next hand, I again, received high numbered cards and so I declared to fight Thanos again. This time as I tried to get a clue which card I should pick, he diverted his eyes away from the cards with great discipline (I was impressed), but I just knew the card he did not want me to pick was in the same location as the other card and so I picked it, he again moaned and I killed Thanos, game over. He asked how I knew to pick that card and I said I thought he would think that I would think that he would not put the card I wanted in the same location, so reverse psychology or mind reading? Anyway, who knows what was going on with that. ha ha

I was taking some time writing a story. But when I checked back here, you had written this.

So, the story is still on my open notepad.

1) What state was the car driven from?
2) What state did it arrive in?
3) How many four-leaf clovers were found?
4) How long did it take to find them?
5) Who received one?
6) Of the two major malfunctions of the car, name one?

Answer two of these correctly and I will concede that telepathy is real.

Personally, I have experienced a kind of simple telepathy with a friend that live on the other side of the street.
Whenever I got to my balcony and see her on the street I would think about her name and she would turn her head to look at me.
It worked every time, but I don't have the slightest idea of how or why it happened.

Hmm, so you have watched her before? She may have caught you watching her through her peripheral vision. Or, perhaps with all the camera surveillance everywhere these days, maybe she knows she is being watched from all directions and just looks around instinctively. Sixth sense? Probably not.
