Joy lives only in a happy heart.   Spin

A happy heart is the foundation of real happiness. It's not about possessions or accomplishments, it's about gratitude, love, and inner calm.

I knew this from childhood, but there are certain systems in this world that will try to manipulate you away from your heart, so you have to be strong to stay you.

A happy heart is the strongest shield against the world's distractions.

I found another Friedrich Nietzsche quote that I think suit this topic.

The thousand mysteries around us would not trouble but interest us, if only we had cheerful, healthy hearts. - Friedrich Nietzsche

// But, to be in a relationship with someone who loves me, sounds good

I'm 75. I have a loved one that I consider a soulmate. Life always has challenges. Without challenges, life would be pablum.

The greatest joy lies in freedom from the burden of self - midicon.

In essence I am the opposite of Nietzsche...he sought the heaviest burden.

Most of the time I just have normal dreams, but you can feel it right away if it isn't a normal dream - you just know!

If you doubt, then it was probably just a normal dream.

It is hard to explain this with words - you have to experience it yourself to understand because it feels profoundly different from ordinary dreaming.

Wouldn't you say?

I think dreams can be a bridge between us and those who have passed away.

Yes, pets too!  I had to put my last dog to sleep and for several weeks after I dreamed of her.

But to the main point, here's the whole story:

I lost my sister 20 years ago to cancer.  She was a fighter, an inspiration and taken way too soon.  In the years that followed I saw her in dreams occasionally.  Some were just dreams, but others seemed to be more.  I always woke feeling something...and that feeling stayed with me for days.

The one that stands out is where we actually had a conversation.  I asked her what it was like to "die", and she said it was painless just like being born.  I asked her if she ever saw my first dog who had passed, and she said no.  I then asked her if she ever saw our father (who we lost when we were young).  She sighed and said occasionally, as if she wasn't pleased about it.  There was more to the conversation that I don't remember but by the end I had a blissful feeling.  It stayed with me when I woke, and lasted a few days.

With that being on my mind, I reached out to one of her good friends to tell her the story.  I know this woman is very spiritual and her response was "Yeah, I've seen her too".

Make of it what you will.  I've had one other doozy that left me feeling some kind of way after.  Other than that, it's some kind of theater in my head at night.  On a regular night, that is...

Thank you for sharing your story.   Smile

Did you ever get signs from your pets when you were awake?

Like feeling the weight of your pet jumping onto the bed - or hearing familiar noises like paws on the floor, etc.?

Many people get signs, and sometimes a whole family have the same experiences.

I've experience hearing paws on the floor but never when wide awake.  It always seemed to be something that woke me from sleep or in that twilight between being asleep and awake.

The twilight between being asleep and awake is something that I am very interested in because it can be a doorway into other dimensions.

A place where consciousness dissolves in a way, and extraordinary perceptions can arise.

I would like to know if there is a name for that sensation of feeling a cat's weight walking along the back of the couch when your arm is resting there.

It's like there is a sort of memory retained in the nerves, like "yes, that is exactly as I remember when Kitty walked there!" Then I look and she isn't there. There isn't even a visible trace of foot depressions. It's just the same feeling along the arm.

There is a thing called "muscle memory" through training. Maybe cats train their humans over time. That way, memory of them outlasts their presence.
