I have no way of verifying this story but it kind of lines up with your Roman poetry a bit.

Cheers.

My take is Lucifer wanted to be an equal.

And the Kingdom of heaven is a monarchy.

Lucifer originally comes from Latin and meaning "Light Bringer" or "Morning Star".

It was a name for the planet Venus when she appears at dawn.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

I never heard that story.  Lol

Anyway, as I said before, biblical Lucifer and Satan were not originally the same.

Lucifer and Satan began as separate identities - Lucifer the morning star, Satan the adversary. Over time, Christian tradition merged them into one: the Devil.

I am not a Christian, but I have Christian friends that I love, and I would never judge anybody's religion.

People can be good or bad no matter what they believe in, even if they believe in nothing.

I look at people's character most of all.

Hopefully I don't get us too off track here.  This is not the first time I've heard of Christian tradition needing a devil.  If you go back to the old Nordic religion there were the Aesir.  One of the most famous is Loki, god of mischief.

Loki was not inherently evil and would help or hinder the gods as he saw fit. Of the good deeds he did was to retrieve Thor's stolen hammer and rescue Freya from the advances of a giant.  On the other hand he was responsible for Baldur's death and lead the giants against the gods in Ragnarok.

As Christianity spread to the Nordic countries the stories of the Aesir were rewritten by a monk.  There was no definitive source of evil and Loki was cast in that part.

I would judge a religion perhaps as some might be harmful but like you I look at people's characters.

I have no friends but I'm glad about that. In real life I am very kind and it is no false thing. This place brings out the worst in me, which isn't so bad really and gives me an opportunity for self reflection I suppose.

I liked your Nietzsche quote that's why I commented here really.

I believe in God.

You could say that I am more a spiritual person than a religious one.

What about you?

Do you believe in God?

For me God is a universal force.

So now I am a witch.  Lol

I guess you learn something new every day.

But if it makes you smile to call me a witch then go ahead.

Are you trolling dear medicon?  Tongue

You say that you don't believe in God, but he is your oldest and dearest friend, please explain that paradox to me so I won't have to guess.

Anyway, I am spiritual because I believe we all are energy, and that we come from God and we will also go back to God when we are ready.

I did my best to explain this in a very easy way.

If you aren't trolling and actually want to discuss the witch burning then I am all ears.  Smile

It was madness what happened during the witch hunts, many innocent people were punished because others believed they were working with the Devil.

Are we saying our dear @LightAngel is a witch?  Is she made of wood, or does she weigh as much as a duck?

On a more serious note, the witch hunts is a subject I never really delved into.  Maybe that deserves another thread.
