As a MOD you are expected to be above this logic. The USA is supposed to draw its moral and ethical legitimacy to govern from the mandate of its citizenry. Yet, according to you, the EC's role is specifically to block and prevent that? As a mod, I would try to ensure that debate is thoughtful, stimulating and rational - a meeting of the minds - carried out with good humour and that is carried out in a manner consistent with the published and agreed terms and conditions of the site.

And I hope I am not denigrating you as a person - to do that based only upon a few lines of text would be insufferably arrogant and would imply that I think I know stuff that I just don't. I am just as human and fallible as anyone and I acknowledge that I am not some sort of pinnacle of human knowledge. My only knowledge is accumulated during days with the same length of day as everyone else's. But debate requires the opposition of thoughts, ideas and opinions. For the purposes of the DI forums, it can also be entertaining and informative. So, please, continue to expose weaknesses in my arguments and point out where my reasoning fails. The moves are part of the dance.

Republic allows for a popular vote majority by their citizens to be overturned as in the case of USA by Electoral Votes. A Democracy does not. The Core Differences Democracy ("Rule of the People"): Power stems from the citizens, who participate in government either directly (by voting on every single law) or indirectly (by electing officials to represent them). Republic ("Public Affair"): Power resides in the people, but they exercise it strictly through elected representatives and agents rather than through direct majority rule. Furthermore, a republic typically operates under a supreme set of laws or a charter (such as a constitution) that protects individual and minority rights from being overridden by the majority You need to have your software updated. You reside in a country of 340 million people, ruled by whomever can get 270 or more Electoral College votes (and the 'electors' don't even have to be faithful to the votes of those they are supposed to represent), and with a choice of only 2 predetermined candidates (who, throughout US history, have mostly sucked). PS, AI doesn't exist yet. What you suggest you love, is deceptive marketing of large language models which accumulate whatever stuff they scrape off the Internet, and therefore are mostly populist BS.
