Dan Bongino to Resign as FBI Deputy Director
#1
In some ways I am surprised by this announcement ...I know Dan has had cancer so I wonder if he is still in some form of treatment which can suck the life out of you.

He has always seemed to me to be a stand-up kinda guy and I wish him well..

Quote:FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has resigned less than a year into the job.
“I will be leaving my position with the FBI in January,” Bongino wrote in an X post on Dec. 17.
“I want to thank President Trump, [Attorney General Pam] Bondi, and [FBI] Director [Kash] Patel for the opportunity to serve with purpose.
“Most importantly, I want to thank you, my fellow Americans, for the privilege to serve you.
“God bless America, and all those who defend Her.”
President Donald Trump signaled that Bongino would be leaving his post hours before the announcement was made official.

“Dan did a great job,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, on Dec. 17.
“I think he wants to go back to his show.”
Bongino, who started his career as an officer for the New York Police Department and special agent for the U.S. Secret Service, was most known for being a political commentator on Fox News since 2013 and for hosting The Dan Bongino show on Rumble, before he joined the FBI in February 2025.

Some takeaways from Dan's leaving the FBI and the continued story on Epstein.

It was a pleasant surprise to hear Dan get the job. Good to see that Trump is trying with a pick like that.

The J6 pipe bomber was on big issue for him during his podcast days. To see how that one is playing out is a kick in the guts in dealing with the mountain of BS by the gaslighting crew. Been a few others along the way. Now got the Charlie Kirk mess too.

Part of me hopes this is just some 'Art of war', look weak when you are strong in dealing with the internal politics of the place. Cleaning out his office is probably a good idea with all the bugs.

In reality, tough job. Good on him giving it go. With these kids of roles, institutional change is slow and hard.

He seems to be a good guy who wants truth and justice.
When he got the job he said he was amazed at how bad things were run.
He said the country can't survive like that.
I think the job is too big for him and he sees the corruption and incompetence
and knows he can't fix it.
I"m not surprised by the resignation.

Quote:“I think he wants to go back to his show.”

Would that present somewhat of a conflict of interest, given his previous employer and the information he may have been privy to?
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

It is going to be a tricky position to go back podcasting with all the NDA's he has over him now. He was strong at calling out the FBI, is going to be exposed to a big liability if he goes too far. Thin Ice.

It will be great for ratings if he is candid about just how messed up it is and why. If he cannon fix if from the inside, will he try from the outside, let the public know just how bad it is and try to pressure congress to do something?

Dan has done his job. Comes across as a corporate 'hatchet man'. Get into the system, cut out what dead wood you can then move on as the remaining culture starts to rebuild. Going to take a while to see the fruits of this kind of work.

The internet backlash over Epstein is hard, he is on thin ice with that one. What was so convincing for him, the evidence or the culture? I know this kind of thing is tough without having the time to sort out the facts from the fiction.

Maybe he was read in and just waiting until it is rime if things do go that way?
