You wouldn't even know there is anything going on up there. We don't have the jack boots on the ground here yet.  Went to get a Cava bowl today for lunch. It's like an almost halal Chipoltle. And that's right by the DHS complex.  Nothing doing. It seems this unrest is 110 miles and a world away. Only through news would I know unrest exists. 

It was a day game. And the streets were full of brown/gold and blue/white.  Definitely more concern for baseball than protest. 

The general concensus is this was done solely to antagonize and cause another righteous shit show that divides the nation and uses our state as the bitch state. A scapegoat state. So what can you do? 

Like Hitler used Jews and Bolsheviks, Trump uses Immigrants and Woke.  So far his (completely insincere/incredulous) support of Jews/Zion is the only difference between them.  Which is so fucking weird. Israel is woke as shit. So woke they are, Americans wouldn't stand for what they allow.

Newsom, LA, and 65% of the population can say LAPD had it covered (and didn't need a damn thing from Trump) until we are out of air, but if our dear president proclaims one and one makes three, that's what Fox News will make half the country believe. I am going to follow the example of Gavin Newsom and Trump.  Proper 1st amendment shit-talking. No threats. No calls for violent or destructive disobedience, but only criticizing to the exact standard set by Trump.. which means I can lie about anything, never own my mistakes, use logical fallacy (especially ad hom attacks), belittle people for anything, put them on blast for made up things, alter their names for demeaning purposes, slander entire people in a disparaging way, and generally say anything so long as it doesn't advocate violence.

That's exactly what it looks like to me too. It's a shitshow for MAGA and whatever power trip Trump is high on right now.

Depends on where you go. Though there are the main epicenter that will riot in the bay area this weekend... if you are going outside if major cities it's a whole different ball of wax. You outta be fine . The protesters want attention so they go where there is alot of people. Even living just outside of oakland it feels safe in my city and it's a neighbor. I am well aware of the unfiltered rant qualities of that post, as well as several others in this thread, as well as this one. It should be obvious I really don't care about how that appears objectively. But here, allow me to try to withdraw it back... to realty. My reality. 

My realty says:

Trump deliberately overstepped his bounds for the sole purpose of causing exactly what happened. To inflame a conflict so he'd get to put the military on Flower St. 

Guard and Marines? I'm sorry, we are not the ones that lost our minds. 

I believe he did it because it was the first protest against his (detestable) immigration tactics to get even a tiny bit out of hand. Just enough to be useful. And he wants to shut down all further occurances by using what he did to LA as an example. Any excuse to screw with California.  A war against his own citizens for acting out for what he callously does to noncitizens. And he sets up his own authoritarianism, as he mocks the triggered for their bleeding heart sense of humility and compassion. It's a scare/intimidation tactic. Now everyone will remain extra peaceful to not get the guard called. Or be too weary in the first place. In theory. 

The world of fantasy (to me) is the one where the military was needed the first place. The one where the LAPD couldn't handle it. The one where every city couldn't handle any it on their own. 

That wont be reality to you, but it will be to most of us in California, and a very large portion of the rest of the world, whose opinion still matters. 

So, different realities we'd return to when the derangement is shelved for a post.

I'm not so sure about the greatest country part either.  That type of alpha arogance and projected greatness bugs the everloving shit out of me. 

Maybe we have the greatest GDP, Military, and total number of gun violence deaths, but healthcare is like 12th to 24th, education is like 9th to 28th, 16th in quality of life, and so on in that manner.  Why do we need to be the greatest country as a matter of national identity? If you are it shouldn't really need it to be a descriptor. Otherwise, its indoctrinated imperialism and hubris shit. England doesn't even do that anymore.
