Suppose this could be a phenomenon with 'many cultural masks' and all this speculative research, pattern recognition and multiple highly specific correlation aspects are more to do with 'high strangeness humanoid encounters' (as stated again and again in the thread).

Don't reckon anyone truly knows WTF is going on although always thought it wise not to scoff.

If you just want UFO reports to pontificate on then would say there are some really interesting witness reports linked in the first sentence of this thread (pilots, police, military, scientists etc.).

Do love me a bit of Rupert and reckon some of the points he raises here about universal animism hold relevance to discussion.
