Does that "TR2" designation mean it was intended for training? Probably a silly question, but I'm just curious.

No, it's actually the technology upgrades the aircraft has received. It stands for Technology Refresh 2. The latest update is TR3, which is Technology Refresh 3. TR3 will replace the computers and memory modules for the computers, which will allow the Block 4 update. Block 4 will see more advanced sensors, and a better ability to track and identify targets, as well as add new weapons to the mix.
Logic is dead. Long live BS.
