So I really think that the Ego (I am) is important for refereeing the situation.

Super-ego is the programed authority, eg. parents, teachers, preachers, holy texts, TV pundits, Trump, Marx, whoever is taken to be honest and knowledgeable. Sort of gives a framework for Worldview.

The Id is like the fight or flight, attempting to keep the framework intact. The fighting or flighting is intense and passionate.

I'm pretty sure that the Ego is what we use to cast out the "lesser" authorities in the superego and find "better" authorities. If worse comes to worst, we freak out and blank out.

Amnesia sort of sucks; it's all disorienting and ...
