Good place to follow along as the storm heads east, storm chasers , web cams etc

We got about a half inch of snow around here in the last twenty four hours.  Supposed to get about an inch or less coming up tonight into tomorrow.  But it was eighteen degrees below Zero F here when I came upstairs.  Cold as hell, Stripe the little button buck that comes onto our deck to get food couldn't chew the left over veggies tonight, they were like rocks....so I gave him some fresh potatoes and carrots, a toasted english muffin and an apple.  He was full, but he had icicles hanging off his lower chin when he was eating.  only three deer came to eat today.  Spike was here twice.

Had to go check what made a loud noise under the wife in the next room, heat ducts seem to be doing a lot of expanding and contracting with the furnace running so much.  We have about two feet of snow on the roof, when it warms up will get the son-in-laws over to take some off, the house is built strong, so I usually don't worry about it until there is three feet on the roof...two by ten doug fir rafters on sixteen inch centers for the roof...noise is coming from the floor of the second floor...those are two by twelve floor joists sixteen inch on center.  I built the house myself and made it strong.  No new drywall cracks anywhere that I can see either.  Some old ones from shrinkage of headers over the last thirty five years though, triple two by twelve headers on all windows and doors...but they do shrink and cause some drywall cracks occasionally.

A lady on Youtube just made a good point.

When people were running around getting bread, eggs and  milk....did they remember condoms ? A good part of the country is about to get stomped on with snow and ice and if the power goes out, you're going to be stuck in the house for days with not much to do so....

I mean, ya gotta keep warm somehow, right ?

Should we start a betting pool on how high the birth rate jumps in October ?

Yeah, sounds nasty.

All the best, and i hope everything goes to plan.

I can't remember the last time we got any really deep snow, plenty of wind, and rain all the same.

It’s only -9 F down near Detroit. Stay warm UP North.

Snow storm babies born in October!
The storm is named 'Fern'.
Wonder if any of the babies will get that name.   Biggrin

We’re south of Memphis and so far, maybe a half inch of snow but it’s starting to sleet.  Local news radar looks like it might be breaking up a bit.  I’ll report back later

Twenty four below zero this morning.  I haven't seen any deer this morning, hopefully they didn't freeze.  Spike's older sister or aunt he was with all the time disappeared about a month or more ago, without her to snuggle up to, he might have a hard time with the cold.  Hopefully one of his other relatives will snuggle up with him.  I have seen deer  laying side by side in real cold weather multiple times in my life, mothers cuddle up with the young in winter.  He is not old enough to find a girl friend to snuggle up to yet.

I hate getting too attached to wildlife, especially when we have such bad winters here.  Plus, with all the snow, the deer use the road to travel on, and sometimes people hit them.  Would I stop and pick up a fawn that is injured on the road?  of course, but I really do not have a building I can bring it into, I have two garages, they are both full of vehicles, I should have one open bay
