It's so wild Ive seen more deer in suburbia than when I used to hunt. Back in the fall, I heard a snort. I looked out the window, and 5 does were crammed in our tiny yard, munching grass, right at dawn, and a beautiful 12-point buck was across the street, eating like it didn't have a care in the world.

This summer I was walking in the woods and this deer walked up to me. I did not even have food. It was limping really bad!

They are pretty handy critters to have around. I've never seen fruit that's fallen from my trees stay on the ground more than a day. They come every afternoon and eat it and sometimes stand up and get it right off the tree. I don't mind 'cause there 2 each of, apples, pears and peaches, so they don't really get too much off one tree. It's a 3 way battle between me, the birds or the deer to see who gets most of the cherries.

Damn birds win every time.

Thats almost like they were looking for help.

What I like to see these most recent ones looked well-fed and healthy after spring and summer's abundance.

Ive seen suburban deer look scrawny and malnourished, hell ive seen country deer malnourished.

But this small herd wasn't stressed at all

Heikki Lunta is on tour again.  Hope you enjoy his gifts.  He has to be back here for the Heikki Lunta Festival in Negaunee in the beginning of February so you guys can count on the weather getting better for that weekend.  Although, sometimes his tours make him want to stay where the warm weather usually is, he kind of enjoys creating chaos for others and not just Yoopers sometimes.

Heikki also has his own song...the Heikki Lunta snowdance song.

Now we are supposed to get .75 to 1 inch of ice, which is not good

Okay ... we got 7 inches of snow.
Now it's changed to ice.
WAY LOWER than the 14-24 inches they predicted at the start.
