I haven't looked at it's path. Do you have a trajectory map then we can see what line of sight it will have on us.

This will cause a massive havoc here on earth if it starts to slow down. We can call it 'observing', not spying. As someone said, it could drop some equipment into orbit that will spy, tho.
But I think if it is alien, then it will settle some gear on Mars given its path. Perfect spot to do the spy thing))) and confuse nasa even more when some artifacts get in a way of our landers there.

If it is alien and they have bad ass spying equipment hopefully Elon can cloak a rocket and blow it up on his way to Mars.

Aren't their laser beam weapons already orbiting our planet that could be aimed at it, just in case?

It might just be that ATLAS is made of exotic materials with unusual properties. Perhaps super dense with a metal core that affects magnetic and electogravitic fields. Also it's speed might be a contribiting factor.

It might be that its entry into our solar system has dragged a comet or two with it. The sun too will react with solar flares etc. 

A concern might be that it and the other two recent interstellar objects are just the first of many.

Our solar system did recently pass from one side of the galactic equator to the other. First time in recorded history. There might be more rocks on this side to dodge.
