President Trump just cut the US trade deficit IN HALF, lowest in nearly 2 decades

Might there be a reason for it?

Little was being done, not nothing.

And the graph of debt skyrocketed during COVID, when Trump was the President. It peaked when Biden was President but the trend down again started after the peak, like happens.

What happened with the stock markets? Wasn't that fairly immediate? And how much was lost?

High tariffs have been done before and they didn't work, and they didn't work because of retaliatory tariffs. Trump doesn't have any magic that can prevent other countries from reacting. Everyone told Trump, and it has happened.

So now, the 'protected' industry won't happen and everyone will pay more.

Have you also noticed that he exaggerates numbers of things?

He said he had ten billion of dollars to his name before his first term, but we now know it was just $4.5 billion.

His fraud convictions were because his numbers were just approximation, that he just invented to sound good in the situation.

And recently he claimed that he had reduced medicine prices by up to 1500%.

He consistently approximates and exaggerates, which for most people is tantamount to lying, but I am beginning to think that he cannot do even simple arithmetic, additions, and subtractions, and so he just makes stuff up and blusters it through. And people just accept it 'cause no-one in his position could be possibly dyslexic like that.

He is telling everyone how great it is in the middle of an affordability crisis. And the weird thing is that some of his crowd still believe it, despite the reality.

And he is the one driving for ridiculous tariffs, burning through trillions of dollars in the process for mere billions in return. And when it doesn't happen, it will be because it will take longer, and then it will be because someone else is trying to pick on him and ruin it all. And he can't be told, and his minions know it.

You started out in a bad way back in 2016, that's true, but look at what he is doing over the last week and a bit. He's never done this kind of crap before. What is different now that requires it, or, perhaps he has just simply gone mad?

Do you honestly think that Biden and the Dems wanted to foul their own nest?

My initial question.

“Can’t point me in the direction where debt is a good thing could you please. I don’t know why a trade deficit is automatically a bad thing.
Sure responsible debt is ok, I get that but, is the US debt a responsible debt?
Especially when that debt is to to your enemies”

And for that I got a whole boring diatribe on Trump
wasnt an answer to my question
Its really simple.

Debt can be a buffer when timing things is critical, and you need quick action to take advantage of a transient situation. Similarly, if you pay back debt in a controlled way and don't let it spin out too long, for some kinds of debt, the penalties can be minimal.

And a trade deficit probably means that you aren't serving your customers as well as competing traders. Propping up an inviable business by tariffs is just throwing away good money.

In a consumer led economy, it doesn't actually matter where blue-knick-knacks are made, the customers just want to be able to get the best one for them.

Even if you manufacture them locally and sell them almost at cost, if you make only 'solid-concrete-lead-ballast basket balls', you probably won't get enough sales to warrant doing it. So, protecting such a niche industry isn't a good spend of public money. Tariffs, which are applied to everything regardless of of what specifically is protected, do just that.

No.

The people you trade with are hopefully not your enemies. I would recommend shopping elsewhere if the staff of a supermarket keep on shooting at you.

Meanwhile, in Amerika, Trump wants to rely on the Insurrection Act to send the military to crush protests...just like Iran?

I still say you are getting carried away.   The Insurrection Act against those breaking the law and fighting against federal law enforcement is just fine.   And against Walz who wants to use the National Guard against federal law enforcement ... pitting American law enforcement against American law enforcement.   Nothing like Iran and the protesters.    I applaud it and hope that Trump engages the Insurrection Act sooner rather than later.

Tell me more about how you can be jailed for saying mean things where you're from. Not even actually saying the mean things yourself. Just interacting with mean things that someone else has said. And last I checked attacking federal agents performing their legal duties, destroying federal vehicles, stealing federal firearms, and doxxing federal agents based on documents stolen from federal agents is illegal.

You really don't want to go down this road Carpy.

Tell me more about what you might think " mean things" actually mean that might get you prosecuted over here?

As for the rest of your post, no idea why you direct that at me.

Apart from stalking me...

You really think the insurrection act is being considered because of protests?

You tell me.

Why else?

Trump has form for insurrection, and pardoning the rioters.

Carry on stalking.

Did I shoot your dog or something?

I'm not the one who made the claim. You did.

That's really what you think? Or is that what the media told you to think?

Yeah.  Of course it did.

I don't do stalkers that get on my case.

So jog on and find another mark.

Bored now.
