If I'm understanding your question, just hit the reply button that's at the bottom of the post you want to quote.

It auto-quotes the post with the member name and post ID included.

then edit out any parts you don't need or want.

Is there a way to answer line by line besides cutting and pasting the quote into your reply, then setting the replies apart somehow?

I haven't had time to do a proper tutorial, loads of screenshots to grab to do it properly.

That's basically it, even if I missed out some of the finer details and quirkiness of the editor.

You'll note that other members have found a solution in using Source mode for the editor, which is what I've always used, too. Notwithstanding it being geeky, It gives you finer control of what's happening and how to fix those frustrating quote tags.

The golden rule: Any opening [ quote ] tag, must have a corresponding closing tag [ /quote ]
