That's basically it, even if I missed out some of the finer details and quirkiness of the editor.
You'll note that other members have found a solution in using Source mode for the editor, which is what I've always used, too. Notwithstanding it being geeky, It gives you finer control of what's happening and how to fix those frustrating quote tags.
The golden rule: Any opening
[ quote ] tag, must have a corresponding closing tag
[ /quote ]
