The Wall Street Journal had a big expose today on the nightmare Pope Leo XIV is going to face.

There is a crisis with their financial affairs. The level of corruption is breath taking. Money in paper bags, slush accounts. All the favorites. "After $500,000 went missing some of it was found in a shopping bag."
They also engage is some very unusual accounting practices. Imagine they value their priceless pieces of art at 1 Euro. Same for the rare books.
The article begins on the front page A1 and continues on Page A10.

"The problems will now fall to Francis' successor,"... who I imagine will be having a terrible May.

"Cardinals from the U.S. and Germany have given lengthy presentations to their brethren on the state of Vatican's finances and other efforts to repair them. " They are on the path to unsustainable debt.

WSJ reporters investigated -
"Several met in secret, citing an atmosphere of suspicion as the Vatican's balance sheet deteriorates..."

The Catholic church is bankrupt.

This happens when the Church has decades of pedophile scandals and shuffling pedo priests around, causing Catholics to loose faith and/or stop giving to the church.  This happens when the Vatican bank and the Vatican itself are wrapped in corruption and shady business dealings.   This is what happens when you water down the faith instead of feed it.  This happens when you become secular globalists pretending to be anointed priests, instead of doing God's work.

If they had stuck to the Catholic faith, and did what they should have done, this wouldn't be happening.

  • Cardinal Prevost has been the Prefect for the Dicastery for Bishops since 2023 so if you're unhappy with the selections of bishops in the past few years you have him to thank for that.

Also, I had heard elsewhere that he was Bergoglio's hatchet man, having been the person who fired Bishop Strickland

Here is some Churchy type intel for you all on what this new Pope will probably continue:

https://fatima.org/news-views/fatima-perspectives-1358/

the term “Bergoglianism” to denote the peculiar mélange of Seventies-era, Latin American, leftist Jesuit liberalism that Pope Francis promotes as if he were still the Argentine Jesuit Father Jorge Mario Bergoglio.
“But here already there emerges a contradiction between words and deeds, in the politics of Pope Francis. Because while he preaches ceaselessly against the rich Devourers – whom he never identifies and calls by name – the richest men in the world and the superpowers of finance come thronging to be received by him. And he not only welcomes them with wide-open arms, but he heaps praises upon them…
“He praised Christine Lagarde, received repeatedly when she was at the head of the International Monetary Fund, as ‘an intelligent woman who maintains that money must be at the service of humanity, and not the other way around.’ He received in highly visible audiences, accepting in front of the cameras their substantial offerings of money, Tim Cook of Apple, Eric Schmidt of Google, Kevin Systrom of Instagram. He accepted the financing of Paul Allen of Microsoft and of the Mexican magnate Carlos Slim, for many years at the top of the ‘Forbes’ ranking of the richest people in the world.”

This Chicagoan cum Peruvian will be just the same.  Just surprised they didnt really change the skin on the main character model.

Pope Leo's first speech's message:

"In his first speech as pontiff, he said the church should “build bridges” and “welcome everyone”.

Leo also focused heavily on “peace” in his speech, saying he wanted to share God’s peace, which he called “a disarmed peace and a disarming peace” that is “humble and persevering”. Prior to the conclave, cardinals from across the world issued a statement lamenting fighting “in Ukraine, the Middle East, and many other parts of the world” and making a “heartfelt appeal” for peace.""

It is being reported that he was elected because he is less American -

"Then Provost, when his name started floating around, there were conversations with people saying yes, OK, he’s American, but he has a very different profile, because he spent most of his time as a priest, as a religious man, he grew up in Peru and not close to the centre of power in the church in the United States."

"He has not just spent time in Peru. He is 69 years old, and he spent most of the last 40 years in the country.
He is a binational, so you could say that he has spent more time in Latin America than in the United States, the country of his birth.

So, there will be a bit of a competition as to where he belongs, at least among many of the faithful in this part of the world."

Then they should sell off the Vatican archives to museums. A win win for everyone.

He's not an American.
He's a naturalized citizen of Peru.
I knew it!
He distanced himself from being American in his opening remarks.
He's totally a South American, hearth and mind, and an anti-American liberal like Francis.

Quote:Pope Leo's stance on immigration should come as no surprise, as he spent the majority of his career in Latin America, even becoming a naturalized citizen of Peru.

....But Prevost is also a Peruvian citizen and lived for years in Peru, first as a missionary and then as an archbishop.
