I believe anyone with the Name Peter was excluded, but I think, and I may be wrong so correct me if I am, but is this the same Prevost that got in trouble for hiding Priests that were sexually assaulting kids in the 90s?

That's what everyone gets for betting on it.

Looking up the new American Pope quick facts

Champion of poor.
supports maginalized groups, like Francis.
Seen as centrist and globalist.
Opposes female ordination
Critical of gender ideology
Criticized for handling sex allegations

Seems like not too liberal/not too conservative pick.

So, meet the new Pope, same as the old Pope.

I'm in shock.   An American!

Pope Francis is turning in his grave.  He famously said "I feel honored when Americans say they don't like me".  Francis disliked America and Americans.

The good news ... he wasn't one of the massive liberal frontrunners that would have sunk the church.

The bad news ... he's in the mould of Francis, and even took the name LEO 14th ... LEO the 13th was a 'Social reformer'.

He spent much of his time as priest in Peru.  He greeted his new diocese - ROME - from the balcony and greeted his old diocese in PERU from the balcony in Spanish.  He gave absolutely no hint that he was American and no greeting to the diocese of Chicago where he was from originally.   Downplaying the American angle?

I'm not happy.    Got a feeling he's a stink'n globalist ... but we will see.   If he starts in with the 'no borders' globalist nonsense like Francis .. I'll throw up.  Considering how much time he spent in Peru, it could happen.

Just thanking God that it's not Pietro Parolin ... That would have been Peter the Roman and the St. Malachy prophecy would have been true.  He was a stink'n mess.

He was born in Chicago, but his origins are European, Italian mother, French father... and some Spanish, too, but I don't know from where.

Yeah ... he greeted the people of his new diocese in Rome in Italian, and then greeted the people of Peru of his old diocese in Spanish ... but not a word in English nor an acknowledgement of his growing up American and being from Chicago.    Downplaying it already.

Could the selection of this Pope be an indication that the Church deems it appropriate to address, in English, the current American political trend, by expressing support for the ideals of social justice?

President Trump might be facing a "worthy opponent" in a former Cardinal, born on the south side of Chicago, now a world leader with a constituency of a billion.

"Well the south side of Chicago is the baddest part of town,, and if you go down there,, you better just beware of a man called Leo XIV...."!
