I don't think this was an extraterrestrial object.
Here's a photo of a Soviet era recovered craft:
Object in question is in the woods to the left of the soldiers and vehicles. This object was stated to be a UFO, but in reality, was a type of re-entry shield being tested and used by the US's Space Program. I believe that the image seen above in the OPs post is a similar shield being tested. In the case of the picture I posted, a former KGB agent sold the image as proof that the Soviets had a UFO, but later a few Generals came out and talked about trying to reverse engineer the US re-entry shield.
One thing to note about these recent videos and film clips is that the object in quest is already captured and usually shown being dropped somewhere. While don't the "whistleblower" tell us where they got dropped off at and who took custody of the objects.
I'm thinking a lot of what we are seeing is disinformation by some group within the government trying to muddy the waters. The question is why?
