This witness described a solid, oval shaped UFO moving back and forth with 'a pendulum like motion' - September, 1973 (pdf also has nice article on UFO performance characteristics).

The motion was also reported by Police Officers during the 1966 Michigan 'swamp gas' flap which led to the incredibly familiar sounding 1966 US Congressional UFO Hearings.

Here's one of the officers drawing a nice sketch:

• "It would swing back and forth like a pendulum, then shoot upward at tremendous speed, hover and then come down just as fast."
