Compelling someone to virtue signal has always been a matter of rights versus privileges.
Some people (like me) think "I'll be damned if you are going to oblige me to pay homage to
something of yours that I disagree with!"
I am offended that your 'issue' means "I" owe some kind of gesture to you.
I find it personally offensive... but then I feel that about a lot of things in society...
and to simply function in it, I must withdraw from the offense to me.
Unless I want to call it out, make it a point of contention...
and if it goes far enough, I will.
So this whole thing features me trying my damnedest to recall to the dialogue that
these aren't "objects" we are talking about... that there is a dimension to the matter
that both "politics" and "religion" simply ignores... for the sake of "optics."
This really revolves around something so deeply personal and so immensely delicate,
given the circumstances... as activist in our our social community only make it worse...
and the media - as usual - not "helping" but actually exacerbating the friction for show.
"Bannings" should be reserved for dangers, and other harmful things... not people.
Simply say that if you wish to compete... disclose 'physical measurable' reality...and compete thusly.
Making a special category for transgender athletes could be a trap... all manner of slippery crap
gets into it.... "Hormones as physical therapy" have already caused terrible claims of unfairness.
and that's just the beginning... people who choose a transgender life as opposed to people
for whom it is a 'medical' outcome.... those are two different things... and will perform differently.
I think this is not a black hole of despair for many... but it is, for some.
