New Zealand's previous government offered to take the hundreds of 'boat people' that Australia has incarcerated on islands around Australia. This was done as a humanitarian gesture because Australia was in the grip of a right-wing government that was vilifying these imprisoned asylum seekers.

However, the current NZ government now consists of an alliance of a centre right wing party, and two other farther right wing parties. Although the current government has concentrated on supressing the rights of the indigenous people (the Māori) and Pacific Islanders, I'm fairly sure that they are anti-immigration of any type except Caucasians.

Also, New Zealand has more land area than Great Britain, which supports a population of approximately 70 million. We have a similar climate and our current population is only 5.3 million, so ultimately, our islands could easily support an extra 20 million people, however it might take some development to get there.

The United States, of course has 34 times the land area of New Zealand and so could probably support a population of a couple of billion, so I can't understand why its citizens can't understand its greatness and wealth are in its its people.

Fewer people means less money, less growth and less commercial power. It's current economy, status, and military power was built upon other than its native population - most of its inhabitants are immigrants.

But by all means, cut off your fingers and toes to better support a diseased head.

If you are in the country illegally, then you've already broken the law,  thus making you a criminal.

'Northern border undocumented crossers' face a very different process than 'Southern border undocumented crossers'. Surely you are the same country at both borders, with the same laws to protect your national sovereignty?

That thing in the Preamble about 'all men are created equal' means that 'racist laws', or those appliable unequally against specific ethnicities, are contrary to the clearly stated intent of the Constitution. The 'racist laws' are unconstitutional and therefore illegal.

Also have you noticed all the Spanish names of US cities and all the Spanish speakers. That's because they were once Mexican until the border crossed over them.

Two, birthright citizenship was meant to fight discrimination against black folks.  Not to give a free pass to anyone who sneaks in the country illegally, just to give birth.

Birthright citizenship was written into the US Constitution before the emancipation law existed. In a Constitutional respect, it has nothing at all to do with black folks.

Birthright citizenship merely says that people born in the USA are citizens of the USA.

Springsteen's song wasn't, "Born in the USA, cit-izen-ship ne-gated, now, so I can't stay".

The state doesn’t become great by becoming a welfare nanny state spending itself into destitution.

Unemployment increased by 33,000 people last year to reach 156,000, or 5.1 percent—the highest level since September 2020. It is forecast to reach 5.5 percent by the middle of the year. As well as cuts to healthcare and other public services, factories including paper mills and meatworks have closed down, devastating entire towns.
Real unemployment is far higher than the official figure, which only accounts for people actively looking for work. By the end of 2024 more than 409,000 people were receiving some form of welfare payment, 12 percent of the working age population.
There is growing poverty among working families. New Zealand’s gross domestic product per capita declined by 2.7 percent in the year to September 2024, and the Salvation Army notes that 37 percent of the workforce received no pay increase.
The government is driving down wages for the lowest-paid workers. It recently announced that the minimum wage will go up by just 35 cents per hour or 1.5 percent in 2025, half the annual increase in household living costs.
