If we are doing classics, especially with a Hitchcock like edge try "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" which scored 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is psychological horror, released in the early 60s starring Bette Davies and Joan Crawford. It is the first psycho horror film I watched. I think I was 11-12 years old.

In the heart of darkness, shadows have their own secrets. Where silence screams and the dead still dream... You’re never alone when the night is alive. Thanks for that classic recommendation mate - have always heard about that film but never watched it (will report back when I do). Sticking with world cinema thought this new South American horror film was absolutely bonkers. Demons running amok in rural Argentina lol. Pretty awesome, crazy and freaky stuff but fair warning it might be upsetting for some.

I think some of my favorites for real 'chillers' were:
1. The 1931 film "Frankenstein". I think the B&W and filming technique gives it an extra spooky appeal. 2. My other favorite actually isn't a movie, but rather the very first episode of 'The Outer Limits' first aired on Sept. 16, 1963. Season 1, Episode 1, was entitled "The Galaxy Being". This episode was super spooky because it was all about some radio station engineer who is conducting some unsanctioned research using the station's transmitter when he inadvertently contacts an extra-terrestrial from Andromeda. He figures out how to communicate with the being, and one of his colleagues accidentally brings the being to Earth where they realize how different ET's are from humans. This show has haunted me for decades because I believe this is exactly how an extra-terrestrial encounter will occur (quite by accident). It's a great show, and really kicked off what would become one of my favorite TV programs, 'The Outer Limits' Quote:"We now return control of your television set to you, until next week at this same time, when the Control Voice will take you to... The Outer Limits." Awesome stuff!

Many years ago watched Banshee Chapter. There was a large part about numbers stations that freaked me out for some reason. I suppose it was the fact that numbers stations are real. The trailer is misleading as only about 5 minutes are found footage style. Goes into a lot of conspiracies and other things of the like.

I watched this last night. A friend rented it on Fandango for $5.99. It's one of those movies I've known about for a while, saw the trailer, and thought it might be worth renting - there are very few titles where I would submit to a $24.99 purchase price. It's a vampire flick that I would categorize as horror/comedy, but mostly horror. It's somewhat close to being in the style of From Dusk till Dawn, but I would rate the latter slightly to moderately higher - Quentin Tarantino is some pretty stiff competition. From Dusk till Dawn is highly recommended for anyone that hasn't seen it, and even worth a rewatch or two.

Mate as original and disturbing (and entertaining) horror movies go, it's one of the best I've seen in ages. Probably best to know nothing about it going in. Good luck lol |
