A question?  Been a while since any asked me anything.

@Sirius,

No,

As a member I was lamenting that another member feels dissuaded from creating a thread.
The post was casually echoed, and I felt there was room to comment.

It bothered some because my chosen role is to avoid these kinds of negative feelings about something so important (at least to me) just using their voice here.

If it needs saying, my intent was not to establish a delineation between members who moderate and those who don't, but to try an share how we are much more alike than different... and 'jumping' in where frictions arise is something that can be hard to do (but we do try.)

I am unclear about the perception that there is angst accompanying the question.  But I can only say (even if it's embarrassingly revealing) I am not sure I understand why there is a problem in the exchange.  I was only responding directly to Q (with a nod to ANNEE whose experience may have been the exemplar.)

I offer no members as examples, I make no generalized slights...  please explain where I may have gone wrong...

Sounds like gatekeeping to me?

You respond to those posting in it.

When someone wants to sway it in a direction that is off topic -- you ask them not to.

I can see that work sometimes. Thumbup
But if you have to ask more than once, maybe alert staff for assistance?

One also sees those repeat requests starting even more off topic posts.

There was one poster (this was on ATS) -- like I said -- insisted on his own agenda.  He/she was doing the same thing on other threads as well.

In this instance I did go to the Mods -- showed them what was happening.  This person was then banned.

So, yes -- if I can't handle it myself -- I would ask for assistance.

So here is something to think about, if all "you" are doing is waiting for current events to comment on, well the news is all bad. Waiting in excitement for a dopamine rush on bad news

Just saying..

I'm not sure if I post a lot but I do question why I bother at all. I really only joined to write little rhymes and poems and found out quickly that this isn't the place for that. Perhaps this should be my last post.

I miss the rhymes and poems. They were inspiring and I liked to add little bits of my own some times. I am too shy to make new threads for them. Ooh, we should find where the haiku thread went to!

If the same people keep posting over and over then we create a silo. Only chasing big ticket current events will kill the forum.

We don't have enough posters, without variety more won't come.

I for one think it would be great if everyone started talking about their experiences, shared research and whatever on the forum boards, it also adds weight to opinion.

On the UFO topic there is a handful of guys that gives updates, some if it is nonsense but at the very least it tells me what they are looking at currently, the same comes back at me

The paranormal and metaphysical sections is dead because everyone gets tired of the shit or sees it and goes to other communities. It's surreal making a post here and getting pushback from someone and going elsewhere and there is literally a 1000 people going "yup". It's all just because of the small number of people posting

I don't feel that the amount of posters is the issue, but, more the quality of some of the users around here.
