I tried to find; "I didnt" but I coud not. Yes, pilots lie but this leak is above and beyond normal and it has been reported that said switches have shut themselves off in the past. Then we have Hackers out there. GM shut off my brand new Colorado 2019 pickup several years ago for a software upgrade. I wrote on it on ATS as I was still inside the vehicle. So if that technology was around in 2019 on a vehicle I can only imagne as to what else is out there even up to and including commercial aircraft.

Would you like me to contact several Captains of a major US airline now retired who flew the big ones internationally. I lived in the neighborhood for several years. They wont mince words as to what they think. Plus one was a Corporate Trainer.

Anythings possible here and as a former FED Confidential DOD Registered Source I can see the INTEL getting ahead of the story that the pilot did it so as to not feak out the world. Just like the UFO spinorama

No, the fuel switches have NOT shut themselves off in the past. The EAFR records the physical switch position, and showed them moving to CUTOFF. The only time the fuel switches have physically moved to CUTOFF in the past was through pilot error. It wasn’t a hack, it wasn’t shut off by a computer, the EAFR was the physical position of the switch.

From Air India's Investigation of the Fuel Switches:

"Air India has completed precautionary inspections on the locking mechanism of Fuel Control Switch (FCS) on all Boeing 787 and Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet.Boeing 737 aircraft are part of the fleet of Air India Express, Air India’s low cost subsidiary. With this, the two airlines have complied with the directives of the DGCA issued on July 14, 2025.
In the inspections, no issues were found with the said locking mechanism. Air India had started voluntary inspections on 12 July and completed them within the prescribed time limit set by the DGCA. The same has been communicated to the regulator.
Air India remains committed to the safety of passengers and crew members."

Some are speculating that the plane 'thought' it was still on the ground from a sensor that monitors weight on the wheels (for a simplistic explanation). While others are looking at the lithium battery which was under seat 23C which they believe caught fire.

One thing for sure is there are many areas still to investigate.
"The only journey is the one within."
From someone who just is reading articles and posts and has no background in aviation, the evidence is pointing to pilot suicide attempt and he changed his mind seconds later?
The switches don't move on their own, period. They were locked until a human moved them. And then moved them back but it was too late.
Further evidence is the other pilot asking 'why/did you move the switch?'
case closed right?

It may have been the FO moving the switches back to RUN. We won’t know more until the final report next year. It’s never case closed until the final is released.

Well the switches should never have been moved to OFF right? So you can't fault him for turning them back on?
Isn't it a chance to restart the engines versus none at all?

Turning them to RUN in flight starts an automatic restart procedure. The left engine was beginning to spool back up, but the right was having trouble restarting. Another couple hundred feet and they might have made it.

Interesting. Thank you for the elucidation.
Can you indulge me and say how the fuel could have been cut off, outside of human hands moving the switch?

In this specific case, or in general?

How about both? if you don't mind.
