Vladimir Putin 'spits in Trump's face'

That came before the invasion sahgwa.

History is important mate.

Same as sovereignty.

Yes mate, that is why i find the glossing over of what quite possibly could have led Russia to invade, so very important to discuss but everyone seems to not care.  As if they invaded in a vacuum.
And a major spoiler alert, it's not to 'rebuild the Soviet Union' roflmao

But they did invade....

There is no excuse.

As to the why, that would be power and control, so...

Can't change the facts, im afraid.

The fact is, Russia is in the wrong postcode.

Not Ukraine.  Smug

In context of "national expression."

There was no reason for the invasion.

There was only an excuse.

Ukraine gave it to them... on purpose.

FAFO entered into play.

society in general so much wiser,
so much talk of progress or faliure by 'onlookers.'

So many dead.

Pull the plug on every war where innocent people lose...

You hate your enemies so much?... You go fight them.

Yes I wonder how many people here who are convinced of Putin's megalomaniacal neo Soviet ambitions would willingly go to Ukraine or send their children to go fight there.
My father worked in Ukraine and I know exactly what am I talking about when I say American meddling.

How is Russia invading and occupying Ukraine a proxy war? It's nothing of the sort.

You may see Europe and America supplying weapons to Ukraine as a proxy war but Russia was the invading force here.  Ukraine wanted to join the E.U. and was a long way off from even being considered for NATO membership.
Putin wanted to control the out come of Ukraine's alliances and interfere in Ukraine's democracy, which failed with the ex-prime minster fleeing to Russia.

It does seem that many only look at the history of the area as far back as the Russia revolution, or WW2.

But Ukraine's history and it's fight for independence goes a lot further back than that. Also the 'Birth' of Ukraine came before Russia.

Why does Putin insist Ukranians and Russians are ‘one people’? The answer spans centuries of colonisation and resistance

It does appear that Putin's 2-3 hour phone calls are paying off for him, and it does seem that he can pretty much call the shots for America concerning Ukraine.

And that's the real kicker.

If Putin wants Ukraine so much.

Let him go fight for it on his own front lines.

See how he likes dem apples.

There would be no fecking wars if these filthy animals were forced to fight for their own meat.

My father worked in Ukraine and I know exactly what am I talking about when I say American meddling.

The stupid ones i imagine.

I wonder how Vladimir's annexation of Crimea or his ""special military operation"" would have fared if nobody had bothered to turn up and attack?

Again, send Putin to fight, see how far he gets.

Unfortunately, sahgwa just because your father worked somewhere doesn't exactly mean much.

My Grandfather had been all around the world, it didn't make him a geography teacher.

I've worked in Ibiza, Barcelona, Marseille, it doesn't make me an authority on Spain or France.

The price both nations are being forced to pay in places and people simply is not worth the trouble.

But the difference being Ukraine simply can't pick up stix, declare the games a bogey, and go back home to whence they came, else there goes their sovereignty as an entire nation.

Russian forces, on the other hand...

I was under the impression that the Ukrainian battlefield was mostly being used as a playground for advanced tech.
if we take away the loss of life part I find it difficult to believe that this war is going away anytime soon.

Seems to me the core driver is still Russia's attempt to control Ukrainian territory.

Wars don't continue just because technology is involved.

They continue when one side refuses to stop fighting.

As long as Russia thinks it can gain something and Ukraine refuses to surrender, the conflict will drag on.

Technology changes the tools, not the cause.
